2. Azaphosphinines and their derivatives

   Six-membered heterocycles containing one phosphorus and one nitrogen atom, known as azaphosphinines, have existed in the shadows of their single heteroatom-containing analogues for almost 150 years. Despite this, recent chemistry has seen a rapid increase in publications concerning this uncommon scaffold. Azaphosphinines exist in one of six isomers—there are three possible orientations of the pnictogen atoms and in each of these, the phosphorus is in one of two valences (PIII vs. PV). This review aims to outline and inform on the synthesis and applications of all six isomers. PV–oxo azaphosphinines are of particular interest to this review as many of the discussed heterocycles either form as the pentavalent species directly or oxidize to this over time. In very recent years the published applications of azaphosphinines have blossomed into subjects spanning several fields of chemistry such as asymmetric catalysis, supramolecular association, cellular imaging, and medicinal chemistry.

3. TA Coaches in the Mathematical Sciences: Exploring Their Roles and Their Perceptions

   This poster focuses on the experiences of TA Coaches in a comprehensive graduate teaching assistant training program in mathematical sciences that was designed and refined at one institution and is being replicated at two peer institutions. During program development, TA coaches were tasked with working with GTAs teaching recitation sections of college algebra and calculus I to facilitate active learning pedagogy and were asked to free-form journal about their experience. At the two institutions replicating the program, the duties changed to support the structure and needs of each department. Recent TA coaches at the three institutions participated in interviews about their experiences. This poster summarizes the roles of the TA Coaches across the three universities and explores their perceptions of the unique benefits that the TA coach role provides to the GTAs they assist and their own instructional experiences.

5. Arboreal models and their stability

   The main result of this paper is the uniqueness of local arboreal models, defined as the closure of the class of smooth germs of Lagrangian submanifolds under the operation of taking iterated transverse Liouville cones. A parametric version implies that the space of germs of symplectomorphisms that preserve the local model is weakly homotopy equivalent to the space of automorphisms of the corresponding signed rooted tree. Hence the local symplectic topology around a canonical model reduces to combinatorics, even parametrically. This paper can be read independently, but it is part of a series of papers by the authors on the arborealization program.
