We obtain asymptotic estimates of the dimension of cohomology on possibly non-compact complex manifolds for line bundles endowed with Hermitian metrics with algebraic singularities. We give a unified approach to establishing singular holomorphic Morse inequalities for hyperconcave manifolds, pseudoconvex domains, q-convex manifolds and q-concave manifolds, and we generalize related estimates of Berndtsson. We also consider the case of metrics with more general than algebraic singularities.

Poisson manifolds of compact types (PMCT 1)
Abstract This is the first in a series of papers dedicated to the study of Poisson manifolds of compact types (PMCTs). This notion encompassesseveral classes of Poisson manifolds defined via properties of their symplectic integrations. In this first paper we establish some fundamentalproperties and constructions of PMCTs. For instance, we show that their Poisson cohomology behaves very much like thede Rham cohomology of a compact manifold (Hodge decomposition, non-degenerate Poincaré duality pairing, etc.)and that the Moser trick can be adapted to PMCTs. More important, we find unexpected connections between PMCTs and symplectic topology: PMCTsare related with the theory of Lagrangian fibrations and we exhibit a construction of a non-trivialPMCT related to a classical question on the topology of the orbits of a free symplectic circle action. In subsequent papers, we will establish deep connections between PMCTs and integral affine geometry,Hamiltonian G -spaces, foliation theory, orbifolds, Lie theory and symplectic gerbes.

This paper studies projections of uniform random elements of (co)adjoint orbits of compact Lie groups. Such projections generalize several widely studied ensembles in random matrix theory, including the randomized Horn’s problem, the randomized Schur’s problem, and the orbital corners process. In this general setting, we prove integral formulae for the probability densities, establish some properties of the densities, and discuss connections to multiplicity problems in representation theory as well as to known results in the symplectic geometry literature. As applications, we show a number of results on marginal problems in quantum information theory and also prove an integral formula for restriction multiplicities.more » « less

null (Ed.)A bstract In this paper we explore nonabelian gauged linear sigma models (GLSMs) for symplectic and orthogonal Grassmannians and flag manifolds, checking e.g. global symmetries, Witten indices, and Calabi-Yau conditions, following up a proposal in the math community. For symplectic Grassmannians, we check that Coulomb branch vacua of the GLSM are consistent with ordinary and equivariant quantum cohomology of the space.more » « less

Abstract Deformations of the heterotic superpotential give rise to a topological holomorphic theory with similarities to both Kodaira-Spencer gravity and holomorphic Chern-Simons theory. Although the action is cubic, it is only quadratic in the complex structure deformations (the Beltrami differential). Treated separately, for large fluxes, or alternatively at large distances in the background complex structure moduli space, these fields can be integrated out to obtain a new field theory in the remaining fields, which describe the complexified hermitian and gauge degrees of freedom. We investigate properties of this new holomorphic theory, and in particular connections to the swampland distance conjecture in the context of heterotic string theory. In the process, we define a new type of symplectic cohomology theory, where the background complex structure Beltrami differential plays the role of the symplectic form.more » « less

We show that blow-ups or reverse flips (in the sense of the minimal model program) of rational symplectic manifolds with point centers create Floer-non-trivial Lagrangian tori. These results are part of a conjectural decomposition of the Fukaya category of a compact symplectic manifold with a singularity-free running of the minimal model program, analogous to the description of Bondal-Orlov ( Derived categories of coherent sheaves , 2002) and Kawamata ( Derived categories of toric varieties , 2006) of the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on a compact complex manifold.more » « less
