A nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation was recently found by the authors and shown to be an integrable infinite dimensional Hamiltonian equation. Unlike the classical (local) case, here the nonlinearly induced “potential” is
Differential graphical games have been introduced in the literature to solve state synchronization problem for linear homogeneous agents. When the agents are heterogeneous, the previous notion of graphical games cannot be used anymore and a new definition is required. In this paper, we define a novel concept of differential graphical games for linear heterogeneous agents subject to external unmodeled disturbances, which contain the previously introduced graphical game for homogeneous agents as a special case. Using our new formulation, we can solve both the output regulation and

symmetric thus the nonlocal NLS equation is also symmetric. In this paper, new reverse space‐time andreverse time nonlocal nonlinear integrable equations are introduced. They arise from remarkably simple symmetry reductions of general AKNS scattering problems where the nonlocality appears in both space and time or time alone. They are integrable infinite dimensional Hamiltonian dynamical systems. These include the reverse space‐time, and in some cases reverse time, nonlocal NLS, modified Korteweg‐deVries (mKdV), sine‐Gordon, (1 + 1) and (2 + 1) dimensional three‐wave interaction, derivative NLS, “loop soliton,” Davey–Stewartson (DS), partiallysymmetric DS and partially reverse space‐time DS equations. Linear Lax pairs, an infinite number of conservation laws, inverse scattering transforms are discussed and one soliton solutions are found. Integrable reverse space‐time and reverse time nonlocal discrete nonlinear Schrödinger type equations are also introduced along with few conserved quantities. Finally, nonlocal Painlevé type equations are derived from the reverse space‐time and reverse time nonlocal NLS equations. -
Abstract The 2021
M W 6.0 Yangbi, Yunnan strike‐slip earthquake occurred on an unmapped crustal fault near the Weixi‐Qiaoho‐Weishan Fault along the southeast margin of the Tibetan Plateau. Using near‐source broadband seismic data from ChinArray, we investigate the spatial and temporal rupture evolution of the mainshock using apparent moment‐rate functions (AMRFs) determined by the empirical Green's function (EGF) method. Assuming a 1D line source on the fault plane, the rupture propagated unilaterally southeastward (∼144°) over a rupture length of ∼8.0 km with an estimated rupture speed of 2.1 km/s to 2.4 km/s. A 2D coseismic slip distribution for an assumed maximum rupture propagation speed of 2.2 km/s indicates that the rupture propagated to the southeast ∼8.0 km along strike and ∼5.0 km downdip with a peak slip of ∼2.1 m before stopping near the largest foreshock, where three bifurcating subfaults intersect. Using the AMRFs, the radiated energy of the mainshock is estimated as ∼. The relatively low moment scaled radiated energy of 1.5 × 10−5and intense foreshock and aftershock activity might indicate reactivation of an immature fault. The earthquake sequence is mainly distributed along a northwest‐southeast trend, and aftershocks and foreshocks are distributed near the periphery of the mainshock large‐slip area, suggesting that the stress in the mainshock slip zone is significantly reduced to below the level for more than a few overlapping aftershock to occur. -
Abstract MXenes, a new class of 2D transition metal carbides, nitrides, and carbonitrides, have attracted much attention due to their outstanding properties. Here, we report the broadband spatial self‐phase modulation of Ti2CT
x MXene nanosheets dispersed in deionized water in the visible to near‐infrared regime, highlighting the broadband nonlinear optical (NLO) response of Ti2CTx MXene. Using ultrafast pulsed laser excitation, the nonlinear refractive indexn 2and the third‐order nonlinear susceptibilityof Ti2CT x MXene were measured to be ∼10−13m2/W and ∼ 10−10esu, respectively. Leveraging the large optical nonlinearity of Ti2CTx MXene, an all‐optical modulator in the visible regime was fabricated based on the spatial cross‐phase modulation effect. This work suggests that 2D MXenes are ideal broadband NLO materials with excellent prospects in NLO applications.image -
Abstract The genetic effective population size,
N e , can be estimated from the average gametic disequilibrium () between pairs of loci, but such estimates require evaluation of assumptions and currently have few methods to estimate confidence intervals. speed‐ne is a suite ofmatlab computer code functions to estimatefrom with a graphical user interface and a rich set of outputs that aid in understanding data patterns and comparing multiple estimators. speed‐ne includes functions to either generate or input simulated genotype data to facilitate comparative studies ofestimators under various population genetic scenarios. speed‐ne was validated with data simulated under both time‐forward and time‐backward coalescent models of genetic drift. Three classes of estimators were compared with simulated data to examine several general questions: what are the impacts of microsatellite null alleles on, how should missing data be treated, and does disequilibrium contributed by reduced recombination among some loci in a sample impact. Estimators differed greatly in precision in the scenarios examined, and a widely employed estimator exhibited the largest variances among replicate data sets. speed‐ne implements several jackknife approaches to estimate confidence intervals, and simulated data showed that jackknifing over loci and jackknifing over individuals provided ~95% confidence interval coverage for some estimators and should be useful for empirical studies.speed‐ne provides an open‐source extensible tool for estimation offrom empirical genotype data and to conduct simulations of both microsatellite and single nucleotide polymorphism ( SNP ) data types to develop expectations and to compareestimators. -
null (Ed.)We propose a deep neural network-based algorithm to identify the Markovian Nash equilibrium of general large 𝑁-player stochastic differential games. Following the idea of fictitious play, we recast the 𝑁-player game into 𝑁 decoupled decision problems (one for each player) and solve them iteratively. The individual decision problem is characterized by a semilinear Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation, to solve which we employ the recently developed deep BSDE method. The resulted algorithm can solve large 𝑁-player games for which conventional numerical methods would suffer from the curse of dimensionality. Multiple numerical examples involving identical or heterogeneous agents, with risk-neutral or risk-sensitive objectives, are tested to validate the accuracy of the proposed algorithm in large group games. Even for a fifty-player game with the presence of common noise, the proposed algorithm still finds the approximate Nash equilibrium accurately, which, to our best knowledge, is difficult to achieve by other numerical algorithms.more » « less
