The title complex, (1,4,7,10,13,16-hexaoxacyclooctadecane-1κ6O)(μ-oxalato-1κ2O1,O2:2κ2O1′,O2′)triphenyl-2κ3C-potassium(I)tin(IV), [KSn(C6H5)3(C2O4)(C12H24O6)] or K[18-Crown-6][(C6H5)3SnO4C2], was synthesized. The complex consists of a potassium cation coordinated to the six oxygen atoms of a crown ether molecule and the two oxygen atoms of the oxalatotriphenylstannate anion. It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system within the space groupP21. The tin atom is coordinated by one chelating oxalate ligand and three phenyl groups, forming acis-trigonal–bipyramidal geometry around the tin atom. The cations and anions form ion pairs, linked through carbonyl coordination to the potassium atoms. The crystal structure features C—H...O hydrogen bonds between the oxygen atoms of the oxalate group and the hydrogen atoms of the phenyl groups, resulting in an infinite chain structure extending alonga-axis direction. The primary inter-chain interactions are van der Waals forces.

Diisobutylammonium triphenyl(2-thiolatoacetato-κ 2 O , S )stannate(IV)
Crystals of the title salt, (C8H20N)[Sn(C6H5)3(C2H2O2S)], comprise diisobutylammonium cations and mercaptoacetatotriphenylstannate(IV) anions. The bidentate binding mode of the mercaptoacetate ligand gives rise to a five-coordinated, ionic triphenyltin complex with a distortedcis-trigonal–bipyramidal geometry around the tin atom. In the crystal, charge-assisted ammonium-N—H...O(carboxylate) hydrogen-bonding connects two cations and two anions into a four-ion aggregate. Two positions were resolved for one of the phenyl rings with the major component having a site occupancy factor of 0.60 (3).

Abstract 3‐Hydroxypiperidinium pentaiodide was synthesized by a facile reaction in concentrated aqueous HI. Its crystal structure comprises 3‐hydroxypiperidinium cations and pentaiodide anions, the latter having geometry ofcis‐shaped chains composed of I2and I3−building units. The analysis of interatomic distances, Raman spectroscopy data, and results of DFT calculations, including non‐covalent interaction analysis, showed that the title compound exhibits a complex pattern of covalent and non‐covalent interactions. Those include I−I covalent bonds and I⋅⋅⋅I halogen bonds within the I5−anion as well as (N)H⋅⋅⋅I and (O)H⋅⋅⋅I hydrogen bonds and even weaker (C)H⋅⋅⋅I van‐der‐Waals interactions between the cations and anions.more » « less

In the title double proton-transfer salt, C 12 H 12 N 2 2+ ·2C 8 H 7 O 4 − , consisting of a 1:2 ratio of 4,4'-(ethene-1,2-diyl)dipyridinium cations ( trans bipyridinium ethylene) to 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoate anions ( o -vanillate), the complete cation is generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry and it is linked to adjacent o -vanillate anions by N—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming trimolecular assemblies. The trimers are linked by C—H...O hydrogen bonds as well as aromatic π–π stacking interactions into a three-dimensional network. The anion features an intramolecular O—H...O hydrogen bond.more » « less

The investigation of the coordination chemistry of rare-earth metal complexes with cyanide ligands led to the isolation and crystallographic characterization of the Ln III cyanotriphenylborate complexes dichlorido(cyanotriphenylborato-κ N )tetrakis(tetrahydrofuran-κ O )lanthanide(III), [ Ln Cl 2 (C 19 H 15 BN)(C 4 H 8 O) 4 ] [lanthanide ( Ln ) = dysprosium (Dy) and yttrium Y)] from reactions of LnCl 3 , KCN, and NaBPh 4 . Attempts to independently synthesize the tetraethylammonium salt of (NCBPh 3 ) − from BPh 3 and [NEt 4 ][CN] in THF yielded crystals of the phenyl-substituted cyclic borate, tetraethylazanium 2,2,4,6-tetraphenyl-1,3,5,2λ 4 ,4,6-trioxatriborinan-2-ide, C 8 H 20 N + ·C 24 H 20 B 3 O 3 − or [NEt 4 ][B 3 (μ-O) 3 (C 6 H 5 ) 4 ]. The mechanochemical reaction of BPh 3 and [NEt 4 ][CN] without solvent produced crystals of tetraethylazanium cyanodiphenyl-λ 4 -boranyl diphenylborinate, C 8 H 20 N + ·C 25 H 20 B 2 NO − or [NEt 4 ][NCBPh 2 (μ-O)BPh 2 ]. Reaction of BPh 3 and KCN in THF in the presence of 2.2.2-cryptand (crypt) led to a crystal of bis[(2.2.2-cryptand)potassium] 2,2,4,6-tetraphenyl-1,3,5,2λ 4 ,4,6-trioxatriborinan-2-ide cyanomethyldiphenylborate tetrahydrofuran disolvate, 2C 18 H 36 KN 2 O 6 + ·C 24 H 20 B 3 O 3 − ·C 14 H 13 BN − ·2C 4 H 8 O or [K(crypt)] 2 [B 3 (μ-O) 3 (C 6 H 5 ) 4 ][NCBPh 2 Me]·2THF. The [NCBPh 2 (μ-O)BPh 2 ] 1− and (NCBPh 2 Me) 1− anions have not been structurally characterized previously. The structure of 1-Y was refined as a two-component twin with occupancy factors 0.513 (1) and 0.487 (1). In 4 , one solvent molecule was disordered and included using multiple components with partial site-occupancy factors.more » « less

Structural characterization of the ionic title complex, [MgBr(THF) 5 ][Co(dpbz) 2 ]·2THF [THF is tetrahydrofuran, C 4 H 8 O; dpbz is 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphanyl)benzene, C 30 H 24 P 2 ], revealed a well-separated cation and anion co-crystallized with two THF solvent molecules that interact with the cation via weak C—H...O contacts. The geometry about the cobalt center is pseudotetrahedral, as is expected for a d 10 metal center, only deviating from an ideal tetrahedral geometry because of the restrictive bite angles of the bidentate phosphane ligands. Three THF ligands of the cation and one co-crystallized THF solvent molecule are each disordered over two orientations. In the extended structure, the cations and THF solvent molecules are arranged in (100) sheets that alternate with layers of anions, the latter of which show various π-interactions, which may explain the particular packing arrangement.more » « less
