A search for hidden-charm pentaquark states decaying to a range of and final states, as well as doubly charmed pentaquark states to and , is made using samples of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of recorded by the LHCb detector at . Since no significant signals are found, upper limits are set on the pentaquark yields relative to that of the baryon in the decay mode. The known pentaquark states are also investigated, and their signal yields are found to be consistent with zero in all cases. © 2024 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration2024CERN

Up and down quark structure of the proton
We report an improved measurement of the valence and quark distributions from the forward-backward asymmetry in the Drell-Yan process using of data collected with the D0 detector in collisions at . This analysis provides the values of new structure parameters that are directly related to the valence up and down quark distributions in the proton. In other experimental results measuring the quark content of the proton, quark contributions are mixed with those from other quark flavors. In this measurement, the and quark contributions are separately extracted by applying a factorization of the QCD and electroweak portions of the forward-backward asymmetry. A search for pair production of scalar and vector leptoquarks (LQs) each decaying to a muon and a bottom quark is performed using proton-proton collision data collected at with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of . No excess above standard model expectation is observed. Scalar (vector) LQs with masses less than 1810 (2120) GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level, assuming a 100% branching fraction of the LQ decaying to a muon and a bottom quark. These limits represent the most stringent to date. © 2024 CERN, for the CMS Collaboration2024CERNmore » « less

This Letter presents the first measurement of event-by-event fluctuations of the net number (difference between the particle and antiparticle multiplicities) of multistrange hadrons and and its correlation with the net-kaon number using the data collected by the ALICE Collaboration in pp, p-Pb, and Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair . The statistical hadronization model with a correlation over three units of rapidity between hadrons having the same and opposite strangeness content successfully describes the results. On the other hand, string-fragmentation models that mainly correlate strange hadrons with opposite strange quark content over a small rapidity range fail to describe the data. © 2025 CERN, for the ALICE Collaboration2025CERNmore » « less

Searches for pair-produced multijet signatures using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of of proton-proton collisions at are presented. A data scouting technique is employed to record events with low jet scalar transverse momentum sum values. The electroweak production of particles predicted in -parity violating supersymmetric models is probed for the first time with fully hadronic final states. This is the first search for prompt hadronically decaying mass-degenerate higgsinos, and extends current exclusions on -parity violating top squarks and gluinos. © 2024 CERN, for the CMS Collaboration2024CERNmore » « less

A search for electroweak production of a single vectorlike quark in association with a bottom ( ) quark in the all-hadronic decay channel is presented. This search uses proton-proton collision data at collected by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC during 2016–2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of . The quark is assumed to have charge and decay to a top ( ) quark and a Higgs ( ) or boson. Hadronic decays of the quark and the or boson are reconstructed from the kinematic properties of jets, including those containing hadrons. No deviation from the standard model prediction is observed in the reconstructed and invariant mass distributions. The 95% confidence level upper limits on the product of the production cross section and branching fraction of a quark produced in association with a quark and decaying via or range from 1260 to 68 fb for quark masses of 600–1200 GeV. © 2024 CERN, for the CMS Collaboration2024CERNmore » « less
