Title: A note on limiting Calderon–Zygmund theory for transformed n$n$‐Laplace systems in divergence form
Abstract We consider rotated ‐Laplace systems on the unit ball of the formwhere , , and for some . We prove that with estimates. As a corollary, we obtain that solutions to , where is the Hardy space, have a higher integrability, namely, .  more » « less

  1. Abstract Building on previous Bayesian approaches, we introduce a novel formulation of probabilistic cross-identification, where detections are directly associated to (hypothesized) astronomical objects in a globally optimal way. We show that this new method scales better for processing multiple catalogs than enumerating all possible candidates, especially in the limit of crowded fields, which is the most challenging observational regime for new-generation astronomy experiments such as the Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time. Here we study simulated catalogs where the ground truth is known and report on the statistical and computational performance of the method. The paper is accompanied by a public software tool to perform globally optimal catalog matching based on directional data.

  2. Abstract We construct a Type IIvon Neumann algebra that describes the largeNphysics of single-trace operators in AdS/CFT in the microcanonical ensemble, where there is no need to include perturbative 1/Ncorrections. Using only the extrapolate dictionary, we show that the entropy of semiclassical states on this algebra is holographically dual to the generalized entropy of the black hole bifurcation surface. From a boundary perspective, this constitutes a derivation of a special case of the QES prescription without any use of Euclidean gravity or replicas; from a purely bulk perspective, it is a derivation of the quantum-corrected Bekenstein-Hawking formula as the entropy of an explicit algebra in theG →0 limit of Lorentzian effective field theory quantum gravity. In a limit where a black hole is first allowed to equilibrate and then is later potentially re-excited, we show that the generalized second law is a direct consequence of the monotonicity of the entropy of algebras under trace-preserving inclusions. Finally, by considering excitations that are separated by more than a scrambling time we construct a “free product” von Neumann algebra that describes the semiclassical physics of long wormholes supported by shocks. We compute Rényi entropies for this algebra and show that they are equal to a sum over saddles associated to quantum extremal surfaces in the wormhole. Surprisingly, however, the saddles associated to “bulge” quantum extremal surfaces contribute with a negative sign.

  3. Summary For decades, $ N $-of-1 experiments, where a unit serves as its own control and treatment in different time windows, have been used in certain medical contexts. However, due to effects that accumulate over long time windows and interventions that have complex evolution, a lack of robust inference tools has limited the widespread applicability of such $ N $-of-1 designs. This work combines techniques from experimental design in causal inference and system identification from control theory to provide such an inference framework. We derive a model of the dynamic interference effect that arises in linear time-invariant dynamical systems. We show that a family of causal estimands analogous to those studied in potential outcomes are estimable via a standard estimator derived from the method of moments. We derive formulae for higher moments of this estimator and describe conditions under which $ N $-of-1 designs may provide faster ways to estimate the effects of interventions in dynamical systems. We also provide conditions under which our estimator is asymptotically normal and derive valid confidence intervals for this setting.

  4. Abstract We show that sequences of the form $$\alpha n^{\theta } \pmod {1}$$ with $$\alpha> 0$$ and $$0 < \theta < \tfrac {43}{117} = \tfrac {1}{3} + 0.0341 \ldots $$ have Poissonian pair correlation. This improves upon the previous result by Lutsko, Sourmelidis, and Technau, where this was established for $$\alpha> 0$$ and $$0 < \theta < \tfrac {14}{41} = \tfrac {1}{3} + 0.0081 \ldots $$. We reduce the problem of establishing Poissonian pair correlation to a counting problem using a form of amplification and the Bombieri–Iwaniec double large sieve. The counting problem is then resolved non-optimally by appealing to the bounds of Robert–Sargos and (Fouvry–Iwaniec–)Cao–Zhai. The exponent $$\theta = \tfrac {2}{5}$$ is the limit of our approach.

  5. Abstract Mechanochemistry afforded a photoactive cocrystal via coexisting (B)O−H⋅⋅⋅N hydrogen bonds and B←N coordination. Specifically, solvent‐free mechanochemical ball mill grinding and liquid‐assisted grinding of a boronic acid and an alkene resulted in mixtures of hydrogen‐bonded and coordinated complexes akin to mixtures of noncovalent complexes that can be obtained in solution in equilibria processes. The alkenes of the hydrogen‐bonded assembly undergo an intermolecular [2+2] photodimerization in quantitative conversion, effectively reporting the outcome of the self‐assembly processes. Our results suggest that interplay involving noncovalent bonds subjected to mechanochemical conditions can lead to functional solids where, in the current case, the structure composed of the weaker hydrogen bonding interactions predominates.
