Title: Replicate O-17-excess by continuous flow laser spectroscopy for an ice core section at Summit, Greenland
This data set contains replicate measurements of D17O from a 92-m deep section of core at Summit, Greenland and other operational data necessary to reconstruct figures presented in Davidge et al., 2022. Details of the entire dataset and a description of the relevant methods can be found in Davidge et al., 2022. The names of each sheet indicate the corresponding figure numbers. The D17O record spans about two years of accumulation. Discrete measurements by laser spectroscopy are provided at 1.4-cm resolution. For the purpose of method development, continuous-flow measurements are provided with nine replicates and are averaged to multiple depth resolutions as described in Davidge et al., 2022. more » « less

 1. Abscisic acid (ABA) is an essential plant hormone that regulates multiple aspects of plant development and numerous abiotic stress responses (Cutler et al., 2010; Waadt et al., 2022). In fact, at the heart of plants’ responses to stresses such as salinity, drought, and hypertonic conditions, among others, is this phytohormone (Cutler et al., 2010; Waadt et al., 2022). Interestingly, stress-triggered and developmental responses to this hormone have been found to involve basic RNA metabolism components, including the two subunits of the nuclear cap-binding complex, ABA HYPERSENSITIVE1 (ABH1/CBP80) and CBP20 (Hugouvieux et al., 2001). Additionally, multiple lines of evidence have linked small RNA (smRNA)-mediated RNA silencing to ABA responses (Gregory et al., 2008; Laubinger et al., 2008). A new study by Yan et al. (2025) has provided new insights regarding how RNA degradation and silencing factors modulate smRNA biogenesis from NITRATE REDUCTASE1/2 transcripts to affect ABA-regulated abiotic stress responses.

 2. Laboratory O2 clumped-isotopic composition data (as Δ36 values) for air occluded in ice core spanning gas ages of 8000-18000 ky BP. O2 clumped isotopic composition data was generated between 2017-2022 at Rice University, Houston, TX, using a Nu Perspective Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IRMS). Reported data was measured in an Antarctic ice core: West Antarctic Ice Sheet Divide Ice Core (WDC06A) . The chronology and gas ages for the core were obtained from Sigl et al., 2016 (doi:10.5194/cp-12-769-2016) and Buizert et al., 2015 (doi:10.5194/cp-11-153-2015). In addition to O2 clumped isotope data, measured δ18Ο data are also reported. Gas loss corrections to generated Δ36 data are made using previously reported raw δ18O data in Seltzer et al., 2017 (doi:10.5194/cp-13-1323-2017) and established gas loss corrections in Yeung et al., 2012 and Banerjee et al. 2022.

 3. This dataset contains meteorology and snow observation data collected at sites in the southwestern Colorado Rocky Mountains during water years 2019-2021. Data collection had an emphasis on paired open-forest sites and included three forested elevations. In total, we present 270 snow pit observations, 4,019 snow depth measurements, and three years of meteorological forcing from two weather stations (one in a meadow, the other in an adjacent forest). The dataset is described in a forthcoming publication of the same name: A meteorology and snow dataset from adjacent forested and meadow sites at Crested Butte, CO, USA (Bonner et al., 2022).
All snow observation and meteorological forcing data are available as both .nc and .mat files. Additionally, original digitized copies of snow pit observations are provided as .gsheet/.xlxs files.
This dataset will continue to be updated, via this repository, as additional years of data are collected.

 4. Data were collected between July 13, 2022 and September 5, 2022 using an equilibrated inlet mass spectrometer (EIMS, Cassar et al., 2009) connected to the surface seawater supply of Norseman II on Cruise ID NRS2022 (01T, 01S, 02S). Data were collected near-continuously over the cruise track which departed from Homer, Alaska (AK) and sampled waters of the Bering, Chukchi and Beaufort seas, ending in Nome, AK. The measurements here contribute to characterizing both the chemical environment and the rate of net biological oxygen production.

 5. Earliest snowmelt estimation dates calculated for the year 2003 are provided using sea ice brightness temperatures from AMSR-E (Cavalieri et al., 2014) and DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS (Meier et al., 2019), as well as simulated sea ice brightness temperatures from the CESM2 JRA-55 (Danabasoglu et al., 2020; Kobayashi et al., 2015; Tsujino et al., 2018), which were created using the Arctic Ocean Observation Operator (ARC3O; Burgard et al, 2020a,b). Scripts and README files are provided for preparing the model data to act as input to ARC3O.
