Title: Observation of the decay B0→J/ψω at Belle II
We measure the branching fraction of the decay B0→J/ψω using data collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider. The data contain (387±6)×106  B B¯ meson pairs produced in energy-asymmetric e+e− collisions at the ϒ(4S) resonance. The measured branching fraction B(B0→J/ψω)=(2.16±0.30±0.14)×10−5 , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic, is more precise than previous results and constitutes the first observation of the decay with a significance of 6.5 standard deviations. 1. We present a search for the baryon number B and lepton number L violating decays τ−→Λπ− and τ−→Λ¯π− produced from the e+e−→τ+τ− process, using a 364  fb−1 data sample collected by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB collider. No evidence of signal is found in either decay mode, which have |Δ(B−L)| equal to 2 and 0, respectively. Upper limits at 90% credibility level on the branching fractions of τ−→Λπ− and τ−→Λ¯π− are determined to be 4.7×10−8 and 4.3×10−8 , respectively. Published by the American Physical Society2024

  2. We report the results of the first search for Standard Model and baryon-number-violating two-body decays of the neutral B mesons to Λ0 and Ωc(*)0 using 711  fb−1 of data collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e− collider. We observe no evidence of signal from any such decays and set 95% confidence-level upper limits on the products of B0 and B¯ 0 branching fractions for these two-body decays with B( Ωc0 →π+Ω−) in the range between 9.5×10−8 and 31.2×10−8 . 3. We search for the rare decay B+→K+νν¯ in a 362  fb−1 sample of electron-positron collisions at the ϒ(4S) resonance collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider. We use the inclusive properties of the accompanying B meson in ϒ(4S)→ B B¯ events to suppress background from other decays of the signal B candidate and light-quark pair production. We validate the measurement with an auxiliary analysis based on a conventional hadronic reconstruction of the accompanying B meson. For background suppression, we exploit distinct signal features using machine learning methods tuned with simulated data. The signal-reconstruction efficiency and background suppression are validated through various control channels. The branching fraction is extracted in a maximum likelihood fit. Our inclusive and hadronic analyses yield consistent results for the B+→K+νν¯ branching fraction of [2.7±0.5(stat)±0.5(syst)]×10−5 and [ 1.1−0.8+0.9 (stat )−0.5+0.8 (syst)] ×10−5 , respectively. Combining the results, we determine the branching fraction of the decay B+→K+νν¯ to be [2.3±0.5(stat )−0.4+0.5 (syst)]×10−5 , providing the first evidence for this decay at 3.5 standard deviations. The combined result is 2.7 standard deviations above the standard model expectation. Published by the American Physical Society2024

  4. The first observation of the decay Ξb−→ ψ(2S) Ξ− and measurement of the branching ratio of Ξb−→ ψ(2S) Ξ− to Ξb−→J/ψΞ− are presented. The J/ψ and ψ(2S) mesons are reconstructed using their dimuon decay modes. The results are based on proton-proton colliding beam data from the LHC collected by the CMS experiment at s=13  TeV in 2016–2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140  fb−1 . The branching fraction ratio is measured to be B( Ξb− → ψ(2S) Ξ− )/B( Ξb− →J/ψΞ− )=0.8 4−0.19+0.21 (stat)±0.10(syst)±0.02(B) , where the last uncertainty comes from the uncertainties in the branching fractions of the charmonium states. New measurements of the Ξb(5945)0 baryon mass and natural width are also presented, using the Ξb−π+ final state, where the Ξb− baryon is reconstructed through the decays J/ψΞ− , ψ(2S) Ξ− , J/ψΛK− , and J/ψΣ0K− . Finally, the fraction of Ξb− baryons produced from Ξb(5945)0 decays is determined. © 2024 CERN, for the CMS Collaboration2024CERN

  5. We present the results of a search for the b→dℓ+ℓ− flavor-changing neutral-current rare decays B+,0→(η,ω,π+,0,ρ+,0)e+e− and B+,0→(η,ω,π0,ρ+)μ+μ− using a 711  fb−1 data sample that contains 772×106  B B¯ events. The data were collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e− collider. We find no evidence for signal and set upper limits on branching fractions at the 90% confidence level in the range (3.8–47)×10−8 depending on the decay channel. The obtained limits are the world’s best results. This is the first search for the channels B+,0→(ω,ρ+,0)e+e− and B+,0→(ω,ρ+)μ+μ− . Published by the American Physical Society2024
