Title: Resolving the trifecta of discrepancies regarding the phosphorus suboxide P 4 O
Unsatisfied with vibrational and mechanistic discrepancies between three previous investigations, we characterized the P4O potential energy surface with high-level coupled cluster methods for resolution, up to CCSD(T)/cc-pV(T+d)Z.  more » « less

  1. ABSTRACT Background0.55T systems offer unique advantages and may support expanded access to cardiac MRI. PurposeTo assess the feasibility of 0.55T cardiac MR Fingerprinting (MRF), leveraging a deep image prior reconstruction to mitigate noise. Study TypePhantom and prospective in vivo assessment. PopulationISMRM/NIST MRI system phantom and 18 healthy subjects (11 female; ages 28 ± 8 years). Field Strength and SequencesMRF, modified Look‐Locker inversion recovery (MOLLI), and T2‐prepared balanced steady state free precession (T2‐bSSFP) at 0.55T. AssessmentMRF T1and T2maps were reconstructed using (1) a low‐rank technique with sparse and locally low‐rank regularization (SLLR‐MRF) and (2) a deep image prior (DIP‐MRF). Accuracy and precision of MRF and conventional sequences were evaluated in a phantom. In vivo performance of MRF was evaluated in the 18 healthy subjects, with 7 subjects also undergoing conventional mapping. Myocardial T1and T2values were compared among methods and image quality scored by three readers (2, 3, and 4 years of experience) on a 5‐point scale. Statistical TestsLinear regression, Bland–Altman, intraclass correlation coefficient, and one‐way ANOVA withp < 0.05 considered significant. ResultsMean measurements in the left ventricular septum were 671 ± 31 ms (MOLLI), 761 ± 147 ms (SLLR‐MRF), and 686 ± 39 ms (DIP‐MRF) for T1, and 63.5 ± 5.7 ms (T2‐bSSFP), 47.5 ± 12.7 ms (SLLR‐MRF), and 45.2 ± 4.5 ms (DIP‐MRF) for T2. Compared to conventional mapping, DIP‐MRF exhibited significantly lower T2but no differences in T1(p > 0.99). Standard deviations within the myocardium were significantly lower with DIP‐MRF compared to SLLR‐MRF (39 vs. 147 ms for T1and 4.5 vs. 12.7 ms for T2). Overall image quality ratings were significantly lower for SLLR‐MRF (T1: 2.3, T2: 2.9), which were significantly lower compared to conventional mapping methods (T1: 3.4, T2: 3.9), and DIP‐MRF (T1: 3.8, T2: 4.1) received higher scores. Data ConclusionThis study demonstrated the feasibility of cardiac MRF on a commercial 0.55T system, enabled by a deep image prior reconstruction for denoising. Evidence Level2. Stage of Technical Efficacy1.

  2. Abstract The preparation of 0.58 Li2S + 0.315 SiS2+ 0.105 LiPO3glass, and the impacts of polysulfide and P1Pdefect structure impurities on the glass transition temperature (Tg), crystallization temperature (Tc), working range (ΔT≡ Tc‐ Tg), fragility index, and the Raman spectra were evaluated using statistical analysis. In this study, 33 samples of this glass composition were synthesized through melt‐quenching. Thermal analysis was conducted to determine the glass transition temperature, crystallization temperature, working range, and fragility index through differential scanning calorimetry. The quantity of the impurities described above was determined through Raman spectroscopy peak analysis. Elemental sulfur was doped into a glass to quantify the wt% sulfur content in the glasses. Linear regression analysis was conducted to determine the impact of polysulfide impurities and P1Pdefect impurities on the thermal properties. Polysulfide impurities were found to decrease theTgat rate of nearly 12°C per 1 wt% increase in sulfur concentration. The sulfur concentration does not have a statistically significant impact on the other properties (α = 0.05). The P1Pdefect structure appears to decrease the resistance to crystallization of the glass by measurably decreasing the working range of the glasses, but further study is necessary to fully quantify and determine this.

  3. Abstract The crystal structure, electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS), heat capacity, and anisotropic magnetic and resistivity measurements are reported for Sn flux grown single crystals of orthorhombic Pr2Co3Ge5(U2Co3Si5-type,Ibam). Our findings show thato-Pr2Co3Ge5hosts nearly trivalent Pr ions, as evidenced by EELS and fits to temperature dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements. Complex magnetic ordering with a partially spin-polarized state emerges nearTsp= 32 K, with a spin reconfiguration transition nearTM= 15 K. Heat capacity measurements show that the phase transitions appear as broad peaks in the vicinity ofTspandTM. The magnetic entropy further reveals that crystal electric field splitting lifts the Hund’s rule degeneracy at low temperatures. Taken together, these measurements show that Pr2Co3Ge5is an environment for complexfstate magnetism with potential strongly correlated electron states.

  4. We report results from experiments with the quinoline-O2 complex, which was photodissociated using light near 312 nm. Photodissociation resulted in formation of the lowest excited state of oxygen, O2 a 1Δg, which we detected using resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization and velocity map ion imaging. The O2+ ion image allowed for a determination of the center-of-mass translational energy distribution, P(ET), following complex dissociation. We also report results of electronic structure calculations for the quinoline singlet ground state and lowest energy triplet state. From the CCSD/aug-cc-pVDZ//(U)MP2/cc-pVDZ calculations, we determined the lowest energy triplet state to have ππ* electronic character and to be 2.69 eV above the ground state. We also used electronic structure calculations to determine the geometry and binding energy for several quinoline-O2 complexes. The calculations indicated that the most strongly bound complex has a well depth of about 0.11 eV and places the O2 moiety above and approximately parallel to the quinoline ring system. By comparing the experimental P(ET) with the energy for the singlet ground state and the lowest energy triplet state, we concluded that the quinoline product was formed in the lowest energy triplet state. Finally, we found the experimental P(ET) to be in agreement with a Prior translational energy distribution, which suggests a statistical dissociation for the complex.

  5. ABSTRACT Miniaturized neural interfaces for research, diagnostics, and neuromodulation therapies require electrode materials that maintain low impedance and high charge injection capacity as device dimensions shrink to ensure high‐quality recordings and safe stimulation. Conventional interfaces rely on metals like platinum (Pt), which are limited by intrinsically high impedance and low charge transfer capacity, reducing their performance in sub‐100 µm applications. Ti3C2TxMXene has emerged as a promising alternative for high‐density recording and stimulation interfaces, though the fundamental charge transfer mechanisms governing its performance remain poorly understood. This study evaluates Ti3C2TxMXene microelectrodes across a range of diameters (25–500 µm) and systematically elucidates the mechanisms governing their recording and stimulation capabilities. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and voltage transient measurements—supported by equivalent‐circuit modeling—revealed enhanced recording and stimulation capabilities of the MXene microelectrodes over size‐matched Pt microelectrodes, attributed to reduced charge‐transfer resistance and increased double‐layer capacitance. Finally, varying the volume and concentration of the spray‐coated Ti3C2Txfilms showed that increased MXene concentration and volume enhanced performance by creating thicker, rougher interfaces. Together, these results establish Ti3C2TxMXene as a promising electrode material with exceptionally low impedance, high capacitance, and high charge‐injection capacity across the microscale.
