The ratio of branching fractions , where is an electron or muon, is measured using a Belle II data sample with an integrated luminosity of at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy collider. Data is collected at the resonance, and one meson in the decay is fully reconstructed in hadronic decay modes. The accompanying signal meson is reconstructed as using leptonic decays. The normalization decay, , produces the same observable final-state particles. The ratio of branching fractions is extracted in a simultaneous fit to two signal-discriminating variables in both channels and yields . This result is consistent with the current world average and with Standard Model predictions. Published by the American Physical Society2024

First Search for B→Xsνν¯ Decays
We report the first search for the flavor-changing neutral-current decays , where is a hadronic system with strangeness equal to 1, in data collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy collider. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of collected at the resonance and collected at a center-of-mass energy 60 MeV below resonance for estimation of continuum background. One of the mesons from the decay is fully reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode. The decay is reconstructed with a sum-of-exclusives approach that uses 30 decay modes. This approach provides high sensitivity to the inclusive decay, despite the presence of two undetected neutrinos. The search is performed in three regions of the mass, , chosen to separate contributions from , , and heavier strange final states. We do not observe a significant signal and set upper limits at 90% confidence level on the partial branching fractions for the regions , , and of , , and , respectively. Combining the three mass regions, we obtain the upper limit on the branching fraction, .

The first four-dimensional amplitude analysis of the decay is performed with proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of . The data cannot be fully explained by contributions alone. A significantly better description of the data is obtained by adding a contribution decaying to . The properties of the structure are consistent with the exotic state reported in the isospin-related decay. Effects of a possible decay mode on the mass distribution are investigated through a Flatté parametrization, providing constraints on the relative decay strength. A description of the structure using the triangle singularity mechanism is studied and also found to be consistent with the data.more » « less

We search for the rare decay in a sample of electron-positron collisions at the resonance collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider. We use the inclusive properties of the accompanying meson in events to suppress background from other decays of the signal candidate and light-quark pair production. We validate the measurement with an auxiliary analysis based on a conventional hadronic reconstruction of the accompanying meson. For background suppression, we exploit distinct signal features using machine learning methods tuned with simulated data. The signal-reconstruction efficiency and background suppression are validated through various control channels. The branching fraction is extracted in a maximum likelihood fit. Our inclusive and hadronic analyses yield consistent results for the branching fraction of and , respectively. Combining the results, we determine the branching fraction of the decay to be , providing the first evidence for this decay at 3.5 standard deviations. The combined result is 2.7 standard deviations above the standard model expectation. Published by the American Physical Society2024more » « less

We report the results of the first search for decays to the final state using of data collected at the resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy collider. The results are interpreted in terms of both direct baryon-number-violating decay and oscillations which follow the standard model decay . We observe no evidence for baryon number violation and set the 95% confidence-level upper limits on the ratio of baryon-number-violating and standard model branching fractions to be and on the effective angular frequency of mixing in oscillations to be (equivalent to ). The first evidence for the decay is obtained using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of , at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. Here, the meson represents any of the three excited charm mesons , , and . The signal is measured with a significance of , including systematic uncertainties. The combined branching fraction , where denotes both and contributions, is measured to be , where the last uncertainty reflects that of the branching fraction of the normalization channel . The ratio between the tauonic and muonic semileptonic decays, with the latter taken from world average values, is also determined and found to be .more » « less
