In the bottomonium sector, the hindered magnetic dipole transitions between P-wave states , , 1, 2, are expected to be severely suppressed according to the relativized quark model, due to the spin flip of the quark. Nevertheless, a recent model following the coupled-channel approach predicts the corresponding branching fractions to be enhanced by orders of magnitude. In this Letter, we report the first search for such transitions. We find no significant signals and set upper limits at 90% confidence level on the corresponding branching fractions: , and . These values help to constrain the parameters of the coupled-channel models. The results are obtained using a data sample taken around with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy collider. Search for e+e−→γχbJ ( J=0 , 1, 2) near s=10.746 GeV at Belle II
We search for the ( , 1, 2) processes at center-of-mass energies , 10.701, 10.746, and 10.804 GeV. These data were collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider and correspond to 3.5, 1.6, 9.8, and of integrated luminosity, respectively. We set upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the Born cross sections for at each center-of-mass energy near 10.746 GeV. The upper limits at 90% confidence level on the Born cross sections for are significantly smaller than the corresponding measured values for and at .

We present an analysis of the processes , , and with ( , 2) reconstructed from final states in of Belle II data collected at four energy points near the peak of the resonance. Here, is a hypothetical bottomonium-sector partner of the . In the process , we observe a signal with a significance that exceeds when all energy points are combined. A signal with a significance of is observed at a center-of-mass energy of 10.653 GeV, close to the threshold. At this energy, we measure at the 90% confidence level, indicating a strong violation of heavy-quark spin symmetry. No significant signal is observed for or . Upper limits on the Born cross sections for the processes and with are determined.more » « less

The production yields of the orbitally excited charm-strange mesons and were measured for the first time in proton-proton (pp) collisions at a center-of-mass energy of with the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The and mesons were measured at midrapidity ( ) in minimum-bias and high-multiplicity pp collisions in the transverse-momentum interval . Their production yields relative to the ground-state yield were found to be compatible between minimum-bias and high-multiplicity collisions, as well as with previous measurements in and collisions. The measured and yield ratios are described by statistical hadronization models and can be used to tune the parameters governing the production of excited charm-strange hadrons in Monte Carlo generators, such as 8.more » « less

A search for flavor violating decays of the boson to charged leptons is performed using data from proton-proton collisions at collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of . Each of the decays , , and is considered. The data are consistent with the backgrounds expected from standard model processes. For the channel the observed (expected) 95% confidence level upper limit on the branching fraction is , which is the most stringent direct limit to date on this process; the corresponding limits for the and channels are and , respectively. Additionally, the final state is used to search for lepton flavor violating decays of resonances in the mass range from 110 to . No significant excess is observed above the predicted background levels.more » « less

The STAR experiment reports new, high-precision measurements of the transverse single-spin asymmetries for within jets, namely the Collins asymmetries, from transversely polarized collisions at . The energy-scaled distribution of jet transverse momentum, , shows a remarkable consistency for Collins asymmetries of in jets between and 510 GeV. This indicates that the Collins asymmetries are nearly energy independent, with, at most, a very weak scale dependence in collisions. These results extend to high-momentum scales ( ) and enable unique tests of evolution and universality in the transverse-momentum-dependent formalism, thus providing important constraints for the Collins fragmentation functions.more » « less
