A comprehensive study of the angular distributions in the bottom-baryon decays , followed by with or decays, is performed using a data sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. The decay parameters and the associated charge-parity ( ) asymmetries are measured, with no significant violation observed. For the first time, the decay parameters are measured. The most precise measurements of the decay parameters , , and are obtained for decays and an independent measurement of the decay parameters for the strange-baryon decay is provided. The results deepen our understanding of weak decay dynamics in baryon decays. © 2024 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration2024CERN

Longitudinal spin transfer to Λ hyperons in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering with the CLAS12 spectrometer
The polarization of hyperons is preserved in the angular distribution of their decay products. This property allows one to study the spin structure of the . In semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering where a high energy lepton interacts with a nucleon target and one or more hadrons and the scattered lepton are detected in the final state, the probability for a struck quark to impart the polarization of the lepton to the may be measured. In particular, in electron-proton scattering this quantity may be related to the longitudinal light quark polarization of the . Currently, limited experimental data cannot discriminate between different models of spin structure. This work reports on the measurement of the longitudinal spin transfer to the using data taken by the CLAS12 spectrometer at Jefferson Lab with a 10.6 GeV longitudinally polarized electron beam and an unpolarized hydrogen target. This measurement is the most precise to date, and, in comparison with theory predictions, it offers valuable insight into the relative dominance of current and target fragmentation in production.

A study of and decays to ( ) is performed using collision data collected by the LHCb experiment during LHC Runs 1–2, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of . The branching fractions for these decays are measured using the decay as a control channel. The decays and are observed for the first time. For decay modes with sufficient signal yields, asymmetries are measured in the full and localized regions of the final-state phase space. Evidence is found for violation in the decay, interpreted as originating primarily from an asymmetric decay amplitude. The measured asymmetries for other decays are compatible with zero. © 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration2025CERNmore » « less

Recent measurements of charm-baryon production in hadronic collisions have questioned the universality of charm-quark fragmentation across different collision systems. In this work the fragmentation of charm quarks into charm baryons is probed, by presenting the first measurement of the longitudinal jet momentum fraction carried by baryons, , in hadronic collisions. The results are obtained in proton-proton ( ) collisions at at the LHC, with baryons and charged (track-based) jets reconstructed in the transverse momentum intervals of and , respectively. The distribution is compared to a measurement of -tagged charged jets in collisions as well as to 8 simulations. The data hints that the fragmentation of charm quarks into charm baryons is softer with respect to charm mesons, in the measured kinematic interval, as predicted by hadronization models which include color correlations beyond leading-color in the string formation. © 2024 CERN, for the ALICE Collaboration2024CERNmore » « less

Using data samples of and collected with the Belle and Belle II detectors, we present a study of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays , , and . We observe the decay and find evidence for the decay , with corresponding branching ratios determined to be and , respectively. We find no significant signal in the decay mode and set an upper limit at the 90% credibility level of . Multiplying these ratios by the world-average branching fraction of the normalization channel, , we obtain the absolute branching fractions of , , and an upper limit at the 90% credibility level on the absolute branching fraction of . The quoted first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third uncertainties arise from the branching fraction of the normalization mode. These results are consistent with most theoretical predictions and further the understanding of the underlying decay mechanisms.more » « less

An amplitude analysis of the decay together with a measurement of the polarization vector in semileptonic beauty-hadron decays is presented. The analysis is performed using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of . An amplitude model is developed and the resonance fractions as well as two- and three-body decay parameters are reported. A sizeable polarization is found. A large sensitivity of the decay to the polarization is seen, making the amplitude model suitable for polarization measurements in other systems.more » « less
