Title: Study of Bc(1P)+ states in the Bc+γ mass spectrum
The study of a wide peaking structure in the Bc+γ mass spectrum is reported using a data sample of proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9  fb−1 . The observed structure is consistent with the lowest excited P -wave Bc+ states and exhibits a statistical significance exceeding 7 standard deviations relative to the background-only hypothesis. A two-peak model serves as an effective description of the data, with various theory-constrained models further explored to provide physical interpretation. Based on the predictions for the Bc(1P)+ spectrum, the relative production cross section of the overall Bc(1P)+ states with respect to the Bc+ ground state with the transverse momentum pT and rapidity y of Bc+ mesons in the regions pT<20  GeV/c and 2.0<y<4.5 at s=13  TeV is measured to be 0.20±0.03±0.02±0.03 , where the uncertainty terms represent statistical, systematic, and uncertainties related to the choice of theoretical models, respectively. The results provide a test of theoretical models and deepen our understanding of quantum chromodynamics.  more » « less

  1. The first four-dimensional amplitude analysis of the B+→ψ(2S)KS0π+ decay is performed with proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at s=13  TeV , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4  fb−1 . The data cannot be fully explained by B+→ψ(2S)K*+ contributions alone. A significantly better description of the data is obtained by adding a T cc¯ + contribution decaying to ψ(2S)π+ . The properties of the T cc¯ + structure are consistent with the exotic state T cc¯1 (4430)+ reported in the isospin-related B¯0→ψ(2S)K−π+ decay. Effects of a possible T cc¯1 (4430)+→ D¯1* (2600)0D+ decay mode on the T cc¯1 (4430)+→ψ(2S)π+ mass distribution are investigated through a Flatté parametrization, providing constraints on the relative decay strength. A description of the T cc¯1 (4430)+ structure using the triangle singularity mechanism is studied and also found to be consistent with the data.

  2. The decay B0→ Λc+ Λ¯ c− KS0 is studied at LHCb for the first time using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of s=13  TeV , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4  fb−1 . The branching ratio relative to the decay B+→ Λc+ Λ¯ c− K+ is measured to be [ B(B0→ Λc+ Λ¯ c− KS0 )]/[B(B+→ Λc+ Λ¯ c− K+)]=0.53±0.05±0.05 where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Evidence is found for contributions from two resonant states, Ξc(2923)+ and Ξc(2939)+ , in the Λc+KS0 system. The two states show a significance of 3.9σ relative to the nonresonant hypothesis. These two Ξc+ states are consistent with being the isospin partners of the states observed in the Λc+K− system.

  3. The production yields of the orbitally excited charm-strange mesons Ds1 (1+)(2536)+ and Ds2* (2+)(2573)+ were measured for the first time in proton-proton (pp) collisions at a center-of-mass energy of s=13  TeV with the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The Ds1+ and Ds2*+ mesons were measured at midrapidity ( |y|<0.5 ) in minimum-bias and high-multiplicity pp collisions in the transverse-momentum interval 2< pT <24  GeV/c . Their production yields relative to the Ds+ ground-state yield were found to be compatible between minimum-bias and high-multiplicity collisions, as well as with previous measurements in e±p and e+e− collisions. The measured Ds1+ /Ds+ and Ds2*+ /Ds+ yield ratios are described by statistical hadronization models and can be used to tune the parameters governing the production of excited charm-strange hadrons in Monte Carlo generators, such as 8.

  4. The inclusive production of the charm-strange baryon Ωc0 is measured for the first time via its semileptonic decay into Ω−e+νe at midrapidity ( |y|<0.8 ) in proton-proton (pp) collisions at the center-of-mass energy s=13  TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The transverse momentum ( pT ) differential cross section multiplied by the branching ratio is presented in the interval 2<pT<12  GeV/c . The branching-fraction ratio BR(Ωc0→Ω−e+νe)/BR(Ωc0→Ω−π+) is measured to be 1.12±0.22 (stat) ±0.27 (syst). Comparisons with other experimental measurements, as well as with theoretical calculations, are presented. © 2024 CERN, for the ALICE Collaboration2024CERN

  5. The Ξb0(−) → Ξc (3055)+(0)(→D+(0)Λ)π− decay chains are observed, and the spin-parity of Ξc(3055)+(0) baryons is determined for the first time. The measurement is performed using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of s=13  TeV , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4  fb−1 , recorded by the LHCb experiment between 2016 and 2018. The spin-parity of the Ξc (3055)+(0) baryons is determined to be 3/2+ with a significance of more than 6.5σ ( 3.5σ ) compared to all other tested hypotheses. The up-down asymmetries of the Ξb0(−) → Ξc (3055)+(0)π− transitions are measured to be −0.92±0.10±0.05 ( −0.92±0.16±0.22 ), consistent with maximal parity violation, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. These results support the hypothesis that the Ξc(3055)+(0) baryons correspond to the first D -wave λ -mode excitation of the Ξc flavor triplet. © 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration2025CERN
