Title: Search for the decay B0 → ϕϕ
Abstract A search for the decayB0→ ϕϕis made usingppcollision data collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. No significant signal is observed, and an upper limit on the branching fraction of 1.3 (1.4) × 10−8at 90 (95)% confidence level is set. This result supersedes the previous LHCb study and improves the upper limit by a factor of two.  more » « less

  1. Abstract An angular analysis of the decay$$ {B}_s^0 $$ Bs0 → ϕe+e−is presented, using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2018 at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV. The combined dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. Observables are determined by fitting time-integrated projections of the angular distribution in three bins of dielectron mass squared,q2, corresponding to [0.1,1.1], [1.1,6.0] and [15.0,19.0] GeV2/c4. The results are compatible with predictions based on the Standard Model of particle physics.

  2. Abstract We present the result of a search for the charged-lepton-flavor violating decayτ−→μ−μ+μ−using a 424 fb−1sample of data recorded by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKBe+e−collider. The selection ofe+e−→τ+τ−events is based on an inclusive reconstruction of the non-signal tau decay, and on a boosted decision tree to suppress background. We observe one signal candidate, which is compatible with the expectation from background processes. We set a 90% confidence level upper limit of 1.9×10−8on the branching fraction of theτ−→ μ−μ+μ−decay, which is the most stringent bound to date.

  3. Abstract This article presents doubly differential measurements of the asymmetries in production rates between mesons containing a charm quark and those containing an anti-charm quark in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of$$ \sqrt{s}=13.6 $$ s=13.6 TeV using data recorded by the LHCb experiment. The asymmetries ofD0,D+and$$ {D}_s^{+} $$ Ds+ mesons are measured for two-dimensional intervals in transverse momentum and pseudorapidity, within the range 2.5< pT<25.0 GeV/cand 2.0< η <4.5. No significant production asymmetries are observed. Comparisons to the Pythia8 and Herwig 7 event generators are also presented, and their agreement with the data is evaluated. These measurements constitute the first measurements of production asymmetries at this centre-of-mass energy of colliding beams, and the first measurements with the LHCb Run 3 detector.

  4. Abstract An angular analysis ofB0→ K*0e+e−decays is presented using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. The analysis is performed in the region of the dilepton invariant mass squared of 1.1–6.0 GeV2/c4. In addition, a test of lepton flavour universality is performed by comparing the obtained angular observables with those measured inB0→ K*0μ+μ−decays. In general, the angular observables are found to be consistent with the Standard Model expectations as well as with global analyses of otherb → sℓ+ℓ−processes, whereℓis either a muon or an electron. No sign of lepton-flavour-violating effects is observed.

  5. Abstract The first measurement ofϕ(1020) meson production in fixed-targetpNe collisions at$$ \sqrt{s_{NN}} $$ sNN = 68.5 GeV is presented. Theϕ(1020) mesons are reconstructed in theirK+K−decay in a data sample consisting of proton collisions on neon nuclei at rest, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 21.7±1.4 nb−1, collected by the LHCb detector at CERN. Theϕ(1020) production cross-section in the centre-of-mass rapidity range of−1.8< y*<0 and transverse momentum range of 800< pT<6500 MeV/cis found to beσ= 182.7 ± 2.7 (stat.) ± 14.1 (syst)μb/nucleon. A double-differential measurement of the cross-section is also provided in four regions of rapidity and six regions of transverse momentum of theϕ(1020) meson and compared with the predictions from Pythia and EPOS4, which are found to underestimate the experimental values.
