Title: Amplitude analysis of $$B^0 \rightarrow \eta _c(1S) K^+ \pi ^- $$ decays
Abstract An amplitude analysis of the$${{{B} ^0} \!\rightarrow {\eta _{c}} (1S) {{K} ^+} {{\pi } ^-}} $$ B0→ηc(1S)K+π- decays with$${\eta _{c}} (1S) \rightarrow {p} {\overline{{p}}} $$ ηc(1S)→pp¯ is performed using a sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9$$\,\text {fb} ^{-1}$$ fb-1 of$$p $$ p $$p $$ p collision data collected by the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of$$\sqrt{s}$$ s = 7, 8 and 13$$\,\text {Te\hspace{-1.00006pt}V}$$ TeV . The data are described with a model including only intermediate contributions from known$${K} ^{*0}$$ K ∗0 resonances. Evidence for an exotic resonance in the$${\eta _{c}} (1S) {{\pi } ^-} $$ ηc(1S)π- system, reported in a previous analysis of this decay channel, is not confirmed. The inclusive branching fraction of the$${{B} ^0} \rightarrow {\eta _{c}} (1S) {{K} ^+} {{\pi } ^-} $$ B0→ηc(1S)K+π- decays is measured to be$$\begin{aligned}&\mathcal {B}({{B} ^0} \rightarrow {\eta _{c}} (1S) {{K} ^+} {{\pi } ^-}) \\&\quad = (5.82 \pm 0.20 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.55) \times 10^{-4}, \end{aligned}$$ B(B0→ηc(1S)K+π-) =(5.82±0.20±0.23±0.55)×10-4, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third arises from the limited knowledge of external branching fractions.  more » « less

  1. Abstract A search for the very rare$$B^{*0}\rightarrow \mu ^+\mu ^-$$ B ∗0 →μ+μ- and$$B_{s}^{*0}\rightarrow \mu ^+\mu ^-$$ Bs ∗0 →μ+μ- decays is conducted by analysing the$$B_c^+\rightarrow \pi ^+\mu ^+\mu ^-$$ Bc+→π+μ+μ- process. The analysis uses proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9$$\text {\,fb}^{-1}$$ \,fb-1 . The signal signatures correspond to simultaneous peaks in the$$\mu ^+\mu ^-$$ μ+μ- and$$\pi ^+\mu ^+\mu ^-$$ π+μ+μ- invariant masses. No evidence for an excess of events over background is observed for either signal decay mode. Upper limits at the$$90\%$$ 90% confidence level are set on the branching fractions relative to that for$$B_c^+\rightarrow J\hspace{-1.66656pt}/\hspace{-1.111pt}\psi \pi ^+$$ Bc+→J/ψπ+ decays,$$\begin{aligned} \mathcal{R}_{B^{*0}(\mu ^+\mu ^-)\pi ^+/J\hspace{-1.66656pt}/\hspace{-1.111pt}\psi \pi ^+}&< 3.8\times 10^{-5}\ \text { and }\\ \mathcal{R}_{B_{s}^{*0}(\mu ^+\mu ^-)\pi ^+/J\hspace{-1.66656pt}/\hspace{-1.111pt}\psi \pi ^+}&< 5.0\times 10^{-5}. \end{aligned}$$ R B ∗0 (μ+μ-)π+/J/ψπ+ <3.8×10-5and R Bs ∗0 (μ+μ-)π+/J/ψπ+ <5.0×10-5.

  5. Abstract Branching fraction ratios between the decays$$ {B}_{(s)}^0\to J/\psi {\eta}^{\left(\prime \right)} $$ Bs0 →J/ψη′ are measured using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. The measured ratios of these branching fractions are$$ {\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({B}^0\to J/{\psi \eta}^{\prime}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({B}^0\to J/\psi \eta \right)}=0.48\pm 0.06\pm 0.02\pm 0.01,\\ {}\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({B}_s^0\to J/{\psi \eta}^{\prime}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({B}_s^0\to J/\psi \eta \right)}=0.80\pm 0.02\pm 0.02\pm 0.01,\end{array}} $$ B B0→J/ψη′ B B0→J/ψη =0.48±0.06±0.02±0.01, B Bs0→J/ψη′ B Bs0→J/ψη =0.80±0.02±0.02±0.01, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic and related to the precision of theη(′)branching fractions, respectively. They are used to constrain theη/η′ mixing angle,ϕP, and to probe the presence of a possible glueball component in theη′ meson, described by the gluonic mixing angleϕG. The obtained results are $$ {\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}{\phi}_{\textrm{P}}={\left({41.6}_{-1.2}^{+1.0}\right)}^{\circ },\\ {}{\phi}_{\textrm{G}}={\left({28.1}_{-4.0}^{+3.9}\right)}^{\circ },\end{array}} $$ ϕP= 41.6−1.2+1.0 ∘ , ϕG= 28.1−4.0+3.9 ∘ , where the uncertainties are statistically dominated. While the value ofϕPis compatible with existing experimental determinations and theoretical calculations, the angleϕGdiffers from zero by more than four standard deviations, which points to a substantial glueball component in theη′ meson and/or unexpectedly large contributions from gluon-mediated processes in these decays. The absolute branching fractions are also measured relative to that of the well-established$$ {B}_s^0\to J/\psi \phi $$ Bs0→J/ψϕ decay, which serves as the normalisation channel. These results supersede the previous LHCb measurements and are the most precise to date.
