Title: Observation of Bc+→Dh+h− Decays
Searches are presented for Bc+→Dh+h− decays, where D is a charmed meson and h± is a charged pion or kaon, using pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9  fb−1 . The decays Bc+→D+K+π− , Bc+→D*+K+π− , and Bc+→Ds+K+K− are observed for the first time. Their branching fractions, expressed as ratios relative to that of the Bc+→Bs0π+ decay, are determined to be R( Bc+ →D+K+π−)=(1.96±0.23±0.08±0.10)×10−3 , R( Bc+ →D*+K+π−)=(3.67±0.55±0.24±0.20)×10−3 , R( Bc+ → Ds+ K+K−)=(1.61±0.35±0.13±0.07)×10−3 , where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is due to the limited precision on the D -meson branching fractions. The decay channels proceed primarily through excited K0 or D0 resonances or ϕ mesons, and open a new avenue for studies of charge-parity violation in beauty mesons.  more » « less

The decay B±→ KS0 π± , with a CP asymmetry expected to be close to zero in the standard model, is theoretically clean and sensitive to potential new physics. An analysis of the decays B±→ KS0 π± and B±→KS0K± is performed using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4  fb−1 . The CP asymmetries are determined to be ACP(B±→ KS0 π±)=−0.028±0.009±0.009 and ACP(B±→ KS0 K±)=0.118±0.062±0.031 , and the branching fraction ratio is measured to be B(B±→ KS0 K±)/B(B±→ KS0 π±)=0.055±0.004±0.002 , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are the most precise measurements of these quantities to date. A search for the rare decay Bc±→KS0K± is also performed. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on the product of the branching fraction ratio B( Bc± → KS0 K±)/B(B±→ KS0 π±) and the fragmentation-fraction ratio fc/fu is set to be 0.015 (0.016) at the 90% (95%) confidence level.

  2. Using data samples of 988.4  fb−1 and 427.9  fb−1 collected with the Belle and Belle II detectors, we present a study of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays Ξc0→Λη , Λη′ , and Λπ0 . We observe the decay  Ξc0→Λη and find evidence for the decay Ξc0→Λη′ , with corresponding branching ratios determined to be B(Ξc0→Λη) / B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+) =(4.16±0.91±0.23)% and B(Ξc0→Λη′) / B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+) =(2.48±0.82±0.12)% , respectively. We find no significant signal in the Ξc0→Λπ0 decay mode and set an upper limit at the 90% credibility level of B(Ξc0→Λπ0) / B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+) <3.5% . Multiplying these ratios by the world-average branching fraction of the normalization channel, B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+)=(1.43±0.27)% , we obtain the absolute branching fractions of B(Ξc0→Λη)=(5.95±1.30±0.32±1.13)×10−4 , B(Ξc0→Λη′)=(3.55±1.17±0.17±0.68)×10−4 , and an upper limit at the 90% credibility level on the absolute branching fraction of B(Ξc0→Λπ0)<5.2×10−4 . The quoted first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third uncertainties arise from the branching fraction of the normalization mode. These results are consistent with most theoretical predictions and further the understanding of the underlying decay mechanisms.

  3. An amplitude analysis of the B+→(π+π−)( KS0 π+) decay is performed in the mass regions 0.30< mπ+π− <1.10  GeV/c2 and 0.75< m KS0 π+ <1.20  GeV/c2 , using pp collision data recorded with the LHCb detector corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9  fb−1 . The polarization fractions and CP asymmetries for B+→ρ(770)0K*(892)+ decays are measured. Violation of the CP symmetry in the decay B+→ρ(770)0K*(892)+ is observed for the first time, with a significance exceeding 9 standard deviations. The CP asymmetry is measured to be ACP = 0.507±0.062(stat)±0.024(syst) and the CP -averaged longitudinal polarization fraction of fL= 0.720±0.028(stat)±0.009(syst) . The measurements help to shed light on the polarization puzzle of B mesons decaying to two vector mesons.

  4. A search for KS(L)0 →π+π−μ+μ− decays is performed using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4  fb−1 . No KS(L)0 →π+π−μ+μ− signals are found and upper limits are set for the first time on the branching fractions B( KS0 → π+π−μ+μ−) <1.4×10−9 and B( KL0 → π+π−μ+μ−) <6.6×10−7 , at the 90% confidence level.

  5. A study of Λb0 and Ξb0 decays to Λh+h′− ( h(′)=π,K ) is performed using pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment during LHC Runs 1–2, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9  fb−1 . The branching fractions for these decays are measured using the Λb0 → Λc+ (→Λπ+)π− decay as a control channel. The decays Λb0→Λπ+π− and Ξb0→ΛK−π+ are observed for the first time. For decay modes with sufficient signal yields, CP asymmetries are measured in the full and localized regions of the final-state phase space. Evidence is found for CP violation in the Λb0→ΛK+K− decay, interpreted as originating primarily from an asymmetric Λb0→N*+K− decay amplitude. The measured CP asymmetries for other decays are compatible with zero. © 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration2025CERN
