Title: First Measurement of Time-Dependent CP Violation in the Flavor-Changing Neutral-Current Decay B0→KS0μ+μ−
A flavor-tagged time-dependent analysis of B0→ KS0 μ+μ− decays is performed across the full dimuon mass range excluding the J/ψ and ψ(2S) resonance regions. The analysis uses proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment in 2011–2018 at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9  fb−1 . The CP violation parameters are determined to be C=−0.13±0.32±0.04 , S=+0.82±0.29±0.05 , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The results are consistent with the standard model prediction. This is the first experimental study of time-dependent CP violation in b→sℓ+ℓ− processes.  more » « less

  1. The time-dependent CP asymmetry in B0→J/ψρ(770)0 decays is measured using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6  fb−1 , collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV during the years 2015–2018. The CP -violation parameters for this process are determined to be 2 β c c¯ d eff =0.710±0.084±0.051  rad and |λ|=1.019±0.034±0.024 , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This constitutes the first observation of time-dependent CP violation in B0→J/ψρ(770)0 decays. Assuming approximate SU(3) flavor symmetry, these results are combined with the previous consistent LHCb measurement to set the most stringent constraint on the penguin contribution, Δϕs , to the CP -violating phase ϕs in Bs0→J/ψϕ(1020) decays, yielding Δϕs=5.0±4.6  mrad .

  2. The first four-dimensional amplitude analysis of the B+→ψ(2S)KS0π+ decay is performed with proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at s=13  TeV , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4  fb−1 . The data cannot be fully explained by B+→ψ(2S)K*+ contributions alone. A significantly better description of the data is obtained by adding a T cc¯ + contribution decaying to ψ(2S)π+ . The properties of the T cc¯ + structure are consistent with the exotic state T cc¯1 (4430)+ reported in the isospin-related B¯0→ψ(2S)K−π+ decay. Effects of a possible T cc¯1 (4430)+→ D¯1* (2600)0D+ decay mode on the T cc¯1 (4430)+→ψ(2S)π+ mass distribution are investigated through a Flatté parametrization, providing constraints on the relative decay strength. A description of the T cc¯1 (4430)+ structure using the triangle singularity mechanism is studied and also found to be consistent with the data.

  3. An amplitude analysis of B−→D−D0 KS0 decays is performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9  fb−1 , collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. A resonant structure of spin-parity 0+ is observed in the D0KS0 invariant-mass spectrum with a significance of 5.3σ . The mass and width of the state, modeled with a Breit-Wigner line shape, are determined to be 2883±11±8  MeV/c2 and 87−47+22 ±17  MeV , respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These properties and the quark content are consistent with those of the open-charm tetraquark candidate Tcs0* (2870)0 observed previously in the D+K− final state of the B−→D−D+K− decay. This result confirms the existence of the Tcs0* (2870)0 state in a new decay mode. The Tcs1* (2900)0 state, reported in the B−→D−D+K− decay, is also searched for in the D0KS0 invariant-mass spectrum of the B−→D−D0KS0 decay, without finding evidence for it. © 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration2025CERN

  4. The first observation of the decay Ξb−→ ψ(2S) Ξ− and measurement of the branching ratio of Ξb−→ ψ(2S) Ξ− to Ξb−→J/ψΞ− are presented. The J/ψ and ψ(2S) mesons are reconstructed using their dimuon decay modes. The results are based on proton-proton colliding beam data from the LHC collected by the CMS experiment at s=13  TeV in 2016–2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140  fb−1 . The branching fraction ratio is measured to be B( Ξb− → ψ(2S) Ξ− )/B( Ξb− →J/ψΞ− )=0.8 4−0.19+0.21 (stat)±0.10(syst)±0.02(B) , where the last uncertainty comes from the uncertainties in the branching fractions of the charmonium states. New measurements of the Ξb(5945)0 baryon mass and natural width are also presented, using the Ξb−π+ final state, where the Ξb− baryon is reconstructed through the decays J/ψΞ− , ψ(2S) Ξ− , J/ψΛK− , and J/ψΣ0K− . Finally, the fraction of Ξb− baryons produced from Ξb(5945)0 decays is determined. © 2024 CERN, for the CMS Collaboration2024CERN

  5. Muon-electron universality is tested in B0→K*0ℓ+ℓ− decays, in the dilepton-invariant-mass region above the ψ(2S) resonance. The analysis uses beauty mesons produced in proton-proton collisions recorded by the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9  fb−1 . The ratio of branching fractions between the muon and electron channels RK*0 is measured to be 1.08−0.12+0.14 (stat)±0.07(syst) for a dilepton-invariant-mass squared above 14.0  GeV2/c4 , consistent with the standard model prediction. This result represents the most precise measurement of RK*0 in this region and the first such measurement performed at a hadron collider.
