We examine undergraduate mathematics majors’ knowledge of the GRE and their perceptions of the GRE as a barrier to applying to these programs as part of a larger project studying student knowledge of the graduate school application process and how it contributes to lack of diversity in graduate mathematics programs. We found that there was an association by gender, and that women were less likely to report that they had heard of the GRE General and Subject Tests. Similarly, women were more likely to report that the GRE tests were a potential barrier to their decision to apply to graduate mathematics programs.</dc:description><dc:publisher>Special Interest Group of the Mathematics Association of America on Research in Undergraduate Mathematics Education</dc:publisher><dc:date>2024-02-25</dc:date><dc:nsf_par_id>10494351</dc:nsf_par_id><dc:journal_name>Proceedings of the Annual Conference on Research in Undergraduate Mathematics Education</dc:journal_name><dc:journal_volume/><dc:journal_issue/><dc:page_range_or_elocation/><dc:issn>2474-9346</dc:issn><dc:isbn/><dc:doi>https://doi.org/</dc:doi><dcq:identifierAwardId>2126018</dcq:identifierAwardId><dc:subject/><dc:version_number/><dc:location/><dc:rights/><dc:institution/><dc:sponsoring_org>National Science Foundation</dc:sponsoring_org></record></records></rdf:RDF>
