This has been enabled by the commercialization of TFLN wafers and advanced nanofabrication of TFLN such as high-quality dry etching. However, fabrication imperfections still limit the propagation loss to a few dB/m, restricting the impact of this platform. Here, we demonstrate TFLN microresonators with a record-high intrinsic quality (Q) factor of twenty-nine million, corresponding to an ultra-low propagation loss of 1.3 dB/m. We present spectral analysis and the statistical distribution ofQfactors across different resonator geometries. Our work pushes the fabrication limits of TFLN photonics to achieve aQfactor within 1 order of magnitude of the material limit.</p></dc:description><dc:publisher>Optica</dc:publisher>
<dc:nsf_par_id>10563695</dc:nsf_par_id><dc:journal_name>Photonics Research</dc:journal_name><dc:journal_volume>12</dc:journal_volume><dc:journal_issue>8</dc:journal_issue><dc:page_range_or_elocation>A63</dc:page_range_or_elocation><dc:issn>2327-9125</dc:issn><dc:isbn/><dc:doi>https://doi.org/10.1364/PRJ.521172</dc:doi><dcq:identifierAwardId>2137723</dcq:identifierAwardId><dc:subject/><dc:version_number/><dc:location/><dc:rights/><dc:institution/><dc:sponsoring_org>National Science Foundation</dc:sponsoring_org></record></records></rdf:RDF>
