  2. Dark matter detection experiments using liquid argon rely on a precise characterization of the ionization response to nuclear recoils, especially in the keV energy range relevant for light dark matter interactions. In this work, we present a comprehensive analysis that combines new measurements from the ReD setup, part of the DarkSide experimental program, with calibration data from DarkSide-50, as well as results from the ARIS and SCENE experiments. These combined datasets enable improved constraints on atomic screening effects in the modeling of the ionization response of liquid argon to nuclear recoils. The analysis is performed within the Thomas-Imel recombination framework adopted in previous DarkSide studies, and is here further constrained by the inclusion of ReD data, which allow the screening function to be determined from calibration measurements. By including the updated ionization model into the DarkSide-50 analysis framework, we obtain stronger exclusion limits on low-mass weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) interactions, setting new world-leading constraints in the 1–3  GeV/c2 WIMP mass range. Finally, we recast the sensitivity projections for the upcoming DarkSide-20k detector, demonstrating a significantly enhanced discovery potential for low-mass dark matter candidates.

  3. Abstract The DarkSide-20k dark matter direct detection experiment will employ a$${21}\,\hbox {m}^{2}$$ 21m2 silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) array, instrumenting a dual-phase 50 tonnes liquid argon Time Projection Chamber (TPC). SiPMs are arranged into modular photosensors calledTiles, each integrating 24 SiPMs onto a printed circuit board (PCB) that provides signal amplification, power distribution, and a single-ended output for simplified readout.$$16$$ 16 Tiles are further grouped intoPhoto-Detector Units(PDUs). This paper details the production of the Tiles and the Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA-QC) protocol established to ensure their performance and uniformity. The production and QA-QC of the Tiles are carried out at Nuova Officina Assergi (NOA), an ISO-6 clean room facility at LNGS. This process includes wafer-level cryogenic characterisation, precision die attaching, wire bonding, and extensive electrical and optical validation of each Tile. The overall production yield exceeds 83.5%, matching the requirements of the DarkSide-20k production plan. These results validate the robustness of the Tile design and its suitability for operation in a cryogenic environment.

  4. We present the measurement of π+ -argon inelastic cross sections using the ProtoDUNE single-phase liquid argon time projection chamber in the incident π+ kinetic energy range of 500–800 MeV in multiple exclusive channels (absorption, charge exchange, and the remaining inelastic interactions). The results of this analysis are important inputs to simulations of liquid argon neutrino experiments such as the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment and the Short Baseline Neutrino program at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. They will be employed to improve the modeling of final state interactions within neutrino event generators used by these experiments, as well as the modeling of π+ -argon secondary interactions within the liquid argon. This is the first measurement of π+ -argon absorption at this kinetic energy range as well as the first ever measurement of π+ -argon charge exchange.

  5. Abstract This paper presents a study of the charmless three-body decays$$ {B}_{(s)}^0\to {K}_{\mathrm{S}}^0{h}^{+}h{\prime}^{-} $$ Bs0 →KS0h+h′− (whereh(′)=π, K), using a sample ofppcollision data collected by the LHCb experiment during Runs 1 and 2 of the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. The decay$$ {B}_s^0\to {K}_{\mathrm{S}}^0{K}^{+}{K}^{-} $$ Bs0→KS0K+K− is observed for the first time, and the following ratios of branching fractions are measured:$$ {\displaystyle \begin{array}{l}\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({B}^0\to {K}_{\mathrm{S}}^0{K}^{+}{K}^{-}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({B}^0\to {K}_{\mathrm{S}}^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}\right)}=0.578\pm 0.007\pm 0.017,\\ {}\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({B}^0\to {K}_{\mathrm{S}}^0{K}^{\pm }{K}^{\mp}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({B}^0\to {K}_{\mathrm{S}}^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}\right)}=0.1363\pm 0.0035\pm 0.051,\\ {}\begin{array}{l}\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({B}_s^0\to {K}_{\mathrm{S}}^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({B}^0\to {K}_{\mathrm{S}}^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}\right)}=0.269\pm 0.011\pm 0.015\pm 0.008,\\ {}\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({B}_s^0\to {K}_{\mathrm{S}}^0{K}^{+}{K}^{-}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({B}^0\to {K}_{\mathrm{S}}^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}\right)}=0.0303\pm 0.0041\pm 0.0025\pm 0.0009,\\ {}\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({B}_s^0\to {K}_{\mathrm{S}}^0{K}^{\pm }{\pi}^{\mp}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({B}^0\to {K}_{\mathrm{S}}^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}\right)}=1.818\pm 0.021\pm 0.031\pm 0.056,\end{array}\end{array}} $$ B B0→KS0K+K− B B0→KS0π+π− =0.578±0.007±0.017, B B0→KS0K±K∓ B B0→KS0π+π− =0.1363±0.0035±0.051, B Bs0→KS0π+π− B B0→KS0π+π− =0.269±0.011±0.015±0.008, B Bs0→KS0K+K− B B0→KS0π+π− =0.0303±0.0041±0.0025±0.0009, B Bs0→KS0K±π∓ B B0→KS0π+π− =1.818±0.021±0.031±0.056, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to knowledge of the ratio of hadronisation fractions of the$$ {B}_s^0 $$ Bs0 andB0mesons, respectively.

  6. The time-dependent CP asymmetry in B0→J/ψρ(770)0 decays is measured using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6  fb−1 , collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV during the years 2015–2018. The CP -violation parameters for this process are determined to be 2 β c c¯ d eff =0.710±0.084±0.051  rad and |λ|=1.019±0.034±0.024 , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This constitutes the first observation of time-dependent CP violation in B0→J/ψρ(770)0 decays. Assuming approximate SU(3) flavor symmetry, these results are combined with the previous consistent LHCb measurement to set the most stringent constraint on the penguin contribution, Δϕs , to the CP -violating phase ϕs in Bs0→J/ψϕ(1020) decays, yielding Δϕs=5.0±4.6  mrad .

  7. Muon-electron universality is tested in B0→K*0ℓ+ℓ− decays, in the dilepton-invariant-mass region above the ψ(2S) resonance. The analysis uses beauty mesons produced in proton-proton collisions recorded by the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9  fb−1 . The ratio of branching fractions between the muon and electron channels RK*0 is measured to be 1.08−0.12+0.14 (stat)±0.07(syst) for a dilepton-invariant-mass squared above 14.0  GeV2/c4 , consistent with the standard model prediction. This result represents the most precise measurement of RK*0 in this region and the first such measurement performed at a hadron collider.

  8. The first observation of the doubly charmed baryon Ξcc+ is reported through its decay to the Λc+ K−π+ final state, with a statistical significance exceeding seven standard deviations. The observation is made using proton-proton collision data collected in 2024 with the LHCb Run 3 detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13.6 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 6.9  fb−1 . The Ξcc+ mass is measured to be 3619.97±0.83± 0.26−1.30+1.90   MeV/c2 , where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is due to the unknown Ξcc+ lifetime, which is assumed to lie in the range 15–160 fs with a baseline value of 45 fs. The difference between the masses of the Ξcc+ and Ξcc++ baryons is determined to be −1.77±0.84± 0.15−1.30+1.90   MeV/c2 . This is the first observation of a new particle made with the LHCb Run 3 detector.

  9. A search for the rare decay B+→ Λ¯ pμ+μ− is performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of s =13  TeV , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4  fb−1 . An excess of events is found with respect to the background-only expectation, with a signal significance of 3.5 standard deviations, in the low invariant-mass region of m( Λ¯ p)<2.8  GeV/c2 . The branching fraction is measured to be Blow (B+→ Λ¯ pμ+μ− )= (1.7 0−0.56+0.65 (stat)±0.17(syst)±0.14(ext)) ×10−8 , where the last uncertainty is due to external inputs on B(B+→ J/ψ Λ¯ p )×B(J/ψ→μ+μ−) . With no significant signal observed in the high m(Λ¯p) region above 2.8  GeV/c2 , an upper limit is set to be Bhigh (B+→ Λ¯ pμ+μ− )<2.8(3.7)×10−9 at the 90% (95%) confidence level.

  10. An analysis of the B0→K*0(→K+π−)μ+μ− decay is presented using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 8.4  fb−1 . The full set of CP -averaged and CP -asymmetric angular observables is determined in bins of the invariant mass squared of the dimuon system, as well as the branching fraction relative to the B0→J/ψ(→μ+μ−)K+π− decay. For the first time, the full set of observables pertaining to the K+π− S-wave contribution to the final state are presented and consideration is given to effects arising from the mass of the muons. The extracted CP -asymmetry observables show no significant deviations from zero. The measurements of the CP -averaged observables and the branching fractions continue to exhibit the pattern of tensions with the standard model predictions that have been seen in previous analyses that use part of the dataset considered in this Letter.
