This paper presents a 100 x 100 super-resolution integrated sensor array for microscale electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) imaging. The system is implemented in 180 nm CMOS with 10 x 10 micron pixels. Rather than treating each electrode independently, the sensor is designed to measure the mutual capacitance between programmable sets of pixels. Multiple spatially-resolved measurements can then be computationally combined to produce super-resolution impedance images. Experimental measurements of sub-cellular permittivity distributions within single algae cells demonstrate the potential of this new approach.more » « less

HTCondor is a major workload management system used in distributed high throughput computing (dHTC) environments, e.g., the Open Science Grid. One of the distinguishing features of HTCondor is the native support for data movement, allowing it to operate without a shared filesystem. Coupling data handling and compute scheduling is both convenient for users and allows for significant infrastructure flexibility but does introduce some limitations. The default HTCondor data transfer mechanism routes both the input and output data through the submission node, making it a potential bottleneck. In this document we show that by using a node equipped with a 100 Gbps network interface (NIC) HTCondor can serve data at up to 90 Gbps, which is sufficient for most current use cases, as it would saturate the border network links of most research universities at the time of writing.more » « less

We collect data on the size distribution of US businesses for 100 years, and use these data to estimate the concentration of production (e.g., asset share or sales share of top businesses). The data show that concentration has increased persistently over the past century. Rising concentration was stronger in manufacturing and mining before the 1970s, and stronger in services, retail, and wholesale after the 1970s. The results are robust to different measurement methods and consistent across different historical sources.
