  1. Abstract A search for the doubly charmed baryon Ω cc + with the decay mode Ω cc + → Ξ c + K − π + is performed using proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment from 2016 to 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb −1 . No significant signal is observed within the invariant mass range of 3.6 to 4.0GeV/ c 2 . Upper limits are set on the ratio R of the production cross-section times the total branching fraction of the Ω cc + → Ξ c + K − π + decay with respect to the $$\Xi _{cc}^{ + + } \to \Lambda _c^ + {K^ - }{\pi ^ + }{\pi ^ + }$$ Ξ c c + + → Λ c + K − π + π + decay. Upper limits at 95% credibility level for R in the range 0.005 to 0.11 are obtained for different hypotheses on the Ω cc + mass and lifetime in the rapidity range from 2.0 to 4.5 and transverse momentum range from 4 to 15 GeV/ c .

  2. The unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is an excellent model organism to investigate many essential cellular processes in photosynthetic eukaryotes. Two commonly used background strains of Chlamydomonas are CC-1690 and CC-5325. CC-1690, also called 21gr, has been used for the Chlamydomonas genome project and several transcriptome analyses. CC-5325 is the background strain for the Chlamydomonas Library Project (CLiP). Photosynthetic performance in CC-5325 has not been evaluated in comparison with CC-1690. Additionally, CC-5325 is often considered to be cell-wall deficient, although detailed analysis is missing. The circadian rhythms in CC-5325 are also unclear. To fill these knowledge gaps and facilitate the use of the CLiP mutant library for various screens, we performed phenotypic comparisons between CC-1690 and CC-5325. Our results showed that CC-5325 grew faster heterotrophically in dark and equally well in mixotrophic liquid medium as compared to CC-1690. CC-5325 had lower photosynthetic efficiency and was more heat-sensitive than CC-1690. Furthermore, CC-5325 had an intact cell wall which had comparable integrity to that in CC-1690 but appeared to have reduced thickness. Additionally, CC-5325 could perform phototaxis, but could not maintain a sustained circadian rhythm of phototaxis as CC1690 did. Finally, in comparison to CC-1690, CC-5325 had longer cilia in the medium with acetate but slower swimming speed in the medium without nitrogen and acetate. Our results will be useful for researchers in the Chlamydomonas community to choose suitable background strains for mutant analysis and employ the CLiP mutant library for genome-wide mutant screens under appropriate conditions, especially in the areas of photosynthesis, thermotolerance, cell wall, and circadian rhythms.

  3. Reaction of ( p -tol 3 P) 2 PtCl 2 and Me 3 Sn(CC) 2 SiMe 3 (1 : 1/THF/reflux) gives monosubstituted trans -Cl( p -tol 3 P) 2 Pt(CC) 2 SiMe 3 (63%), which with wet n -Bu 4 N + F − yields trans -Cl( p -tol 3 P) 2 Pt(CC) 2 H ( 2 , 96%). Hay oxidative homocoupling (O 2 /CuCl/TMEDA) gives all- trans -Cl( p -tol 3 P) 2 Pt(CC) 4 Pt(P p -tol 3 ) 2 Cl ( 3 , 68%). Reaction of 3 and Me 3 Sn(CC) 2 SiMe 3 (1 : 1/rt) affords monosubstituted all- trans -Cl( p -tol 3 P) 2 Pt(CC) 4 Pt(P p -tol 3 ) 2 (CC) 2 SiMe 3 (46%), which is converted by a similar desilylation/homocoupling sequence to all- trans -Cl[( p -tol 3 P) 2 Pt(CC) 4 ] 3 Pt(P p -tol 3 ) 2 Cl ( 7 ; 79%). Reaction of ( p -tol 3 P) 2 PtCl 2 and excess H(CC) 2 SiMe 3 (HNEt 2 /cat. CuI) gives trans -Me 3 Si(CC) 2 Pt(P p -tol 3 ) 2 (CC) 2 SiMe 3 (78%), which with wet n -Bu 4 N + F − affords trans -H(CC) 2 Pt(P p -tol 3 ) 2 (CC) 2 H (96%). Hay oxidative cross coupling with 2 (1 : 4) gives all- trans -Cl[( p -tol 3 P) 2 Pt(CC) 4 ] 2 Pt(P p -tol 3 ) 2 Cl ( 10 , 36%) along with homocoupling product 3 (33%). Reaction of 3 and Me 3 Sn(CC) 2 SiMe 3 (1 : 2/rt) yields all- trans -Me 3 Si(CC) 2 ( p -tol 3 P) 2 Pt(CC) 4 Pt(P p -tol 3 ) 2 (CC) 2 SiMe 3 ( 17 , 77%), which with wet n -Bu 4 N + F − gives all- trans -H(CC) 2 ( p -tol 3 P) 2 Pt(CC) 4 Pt(P p -tol 3 ) 2 (CC) 2 H (96%). Reaction of 3 and excess Me 3 P gives all- trans -Cl(Me 3 P) 2 Pt(CC) 4 Pt(PMe 3 ) 2 Cl ( 4 , 86%). A model reaction of trans -( p -tol)( p -tol 3 P) 2 PtCl and KSAc yields trans -( p -tol)( p -tol 3 P) 2 PtSAc ( 12 , 75%). Similar reactions of 3 , 7 , 10 , and 4 give all- trans -AcS[(R 3 P) 2 Pt(CC) 4 ] n Pt(PR 3 ) 2 SAc (76–91%). The crystal structures of 3 , 17 , and 12 are determined. The first exhibits a chlorine–chlorine distance of 17.42 Å; those in 10 and 7 are estimated as 30.3 Å and 43.1 Å.
