Soft Anomalous Dimensions and Resummation in QCD
I discuss and review soft anomalous dimensions in QCD that describe soft-gluon threshold resummation for a wide range of hard-scattering processes. The factorization properties of the cross section in moment space and renormalization-group evolution are implemented to derive a general form for differential resummed cross sections. Detailed expressions are given for the soft anomalous dimensions at one, two, and three loops, including some new results, for a large number of partonic processes involving top quarks, electroweak bosons, Higgs bosons, and other particles in the standard model and beyond.

I discuss recent theoretical results with soft-gluon corrections for various top-quark production processes through approximate N3LO, including soft anomalous dimensions through three loops. I present numerical results for total cross sections and differential distributions for top-pair and tW production as well as for three-particle final states with a top quark and a Higgs boson. I show that soft-gluon corrections are dominant for a large range of collider energies.more » « less

We investigate multi-Higgs boson production at proton colliders, in a framework involving anomalous interactions, focusing on triple Higgs boson production. We consider modifications to the Higgs boson self-couplings, to the Yukawa interactions, as well as new contact interactions of Higgs bosons with either quarks or gluons. To this end, we have developed a MadGraph5_aMC@NLO loop model, publicly available, designed to incorporate the relevant operators in the production of multiple Higgs bosons (and beyond). We have performed cross section fits at various energies over the anomalous interactions, and have derived constraints on the most relevant anomalous coefficients, through detailed phenomenological analyses at proton-proton collision energies of 13.6 TeV and 100 TeV, employing the 6 b-jet final state.more » « less

Precision measurements of anomalous quartic couplings of electroweak gauge bosons allow us to search for deviations of the Standard Model predictions and signals of new physics. Here, we obtain the constraints on anomalous quartic gauge couplings using the presently available data on the production of gauge-boson pairs via vector boson fusion. We work in the Higgs effective theory framework and obtain the present bounds on the operator’s Wilson coefficients. We show that the combination of different datasets breaks the degeneracies in analysis with more than one nonvanishing Wilson coefficient. Anomalous quartic gauge boson couplings lead to rapidly growing cross sections and we discuss the impact of a unitarization procedure on the attainable limits.more » « less

Abstract A study of the anomalous couplings of the Higgs boson to vector bosons, including$${\textit{CP}}$$ -violation effects, has been conducted using its production and decay in the WW channel. This analysis is performed on proton–proton collision data collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC during 2016–2018 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138$$\,\text {fb}^{-1}$$ . The different-flavor dilepton$$({\textrm{e}} {{\upmu }})$$ final state is analyzed, with dedicated categories targeting gluon fusion, electroweak vector boson fusion, and associated production with a W or Z boson. Kinematic information from associated jets is combined using matrix element techniques to increase the sensitivity to anomalous effects at the production vertex. A simultaneous measurement of four Higgs boson couplings to electroweak vector bosons is performed in the framework of a standard model effective field theory. All measurements are consistent with the expectations for the standard model Higgs boson and constraints are set on the fractional contribution of the anomalous couplings to the Higgs boson production cross section.more » « less
