Title: Dimensional reduction of higher derivative heterotic supergravity
A bstract Higher derivative couplings of hypermultiplets to 6 D, N = (1 , 0) supergravity are obtained from dimensional reduction of 10D heterotic supergravity that includes order α ′ higher derivative corrections. Reduction on T 4 is followed by a consistent truncation. In the resulting action the hyperscalar fields parametrize the coset SO(4 , 4) / (SO(4) × SO(4)). While the SO(4 , 4) symmetry is ensured by Sen’s construction based on string field theory, its emergence at the field theory level is a nontrivial phenomenon. A number of field redefinitions in the hypermultiplet sector are required to remove several terms that break the SO(4) × SO(4) down to its SO(4) diagonal subgroup in the action and the supersymmetry transformation rules. Working with the Lorentz Chern-Simons term modified 3-form field strength, where the spin connection has the 3-form field strength as torsion, is shown to simplify considerably the dimensional reduction.  more » « less

A bstract We sharpen Swampland constraints on 8d supergravity theories by studying consistency conditions on worldvolume theory of 3-brane probes. Combined with a stronger form of the cobordism conjecture, this leads to the reconstruction of the compact internal geometry and implies strong restrictions on the gauge algebra and on some higher derivative terms (related to the level of the current algebra on the 1-brane). In particular we argue that 8d supergravity theories with $$ {\mathfrak{g}}_2 $$ g 2 gauge symmetry are in the Swampland. These results provide further evidence for the string lamppost principle in 8d with 16 supercharges.

  2. A bstract We construct the four-derivative supersymmetric extension of (1, 0), 6 D supergravity coupled to Yang-Mills and hypermultiplets. The hypermultiplet scalars are taken to parametrize the quaternionic projective space Hp ( n ) = Sp( n , 1)/Sp( n ) × Sp(1) R . The hyperscalar kinetic term is not deformed, and the quaternionic Kähler structure and symmetries of Hp ( n ) are preserved. The result is a three parameter Lagrangian supersymmetric up to first order in these parameters. Considering the case of Hp (1) we compare our result with that obtained from the compactification of 10 D heterotic supergravity on four-torus, consistently truncated to N = (1, 0), in which the hyperscalars parametrize SO(1, 4)/SO(4). We find that depending on how the Sp(1) is embedded in the SO(4), the results agree for a specific value of the parameter that governs the higher derivative hypermultiplet couplings.

  3. A bstract New techniques based on Exceptional Field Theory have recently allowed for the calculation of the Kaluza-Klein spectra of certain AdS 4 solutions of D = 11 and massive IIA supergravity. These are the solutions that consistently uplift on S 7 and S 6 from vacua of maximal four-dimensional supergravity with SO(8) and ISO(7) gaugings. In this paper, we provide an algorithmic procedure to compute the complete Kaluza-Klein spectrum of five such AdS 4 solutions, all of them $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 1, and give the first few Kaluza-Klein levels. These solutions preserve SO(3) and U(1) × U(1) internal symmetry in D = 11, and U(1) (two of them) and no continuous symmetry in type IIA. Together with previously discussed cases, our results exhaust the Kaluza-Klein spectra of known supersymmetric AdS 4 solutions in D = 11 and type IIA in the relevant class.

  4. A bstract A holographic duality was recently established between an $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 non-geometric AdS 4 solution of type IIB supergravity in the so-called S-fold class, and a three- dimensional conformal field theory (CFT) defined as a limit of $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 super-Yang-Mills at an interface. Using gauged supergravity, the $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 conformal manifold (CM) of this CFT has been assessed to be two-dimensional. Here, we holographically characterise the large- N operator spectrum of the marginally-deformed CFT. We do this by, firstly, providing the algebraic structure of the complete Kaluza-Klein (KK) spectrum on the associated two-parameter family of AdS4 solutions. And, secondly, by computing the $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 super-multiplet dimensions at the first few KK levels on a lattice in the CM, using new exceptional field theory techniques. Our KK analysis also allows us to establish that, at least at large N , this $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 CM is topologically a non-compact cylindrical Riemann surface bounded on only one side.

A bstract We study two-dimensional celestial conformal field theory describing four- dimensional $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N =1 supergravity/Yang-Mills systems and show that the underlying symmetry is a supersymmetric generalization of BMS symmetry. We construct fermionic conformal primary wave functions and show how they are related via supersymmetry to their bosonic partners. We use soft and collinear theorems of supersymmetric Einstein-Yang- Mills theory to derive the OPEs of the operators associated to massless particles. The bosonic and fermionic soft theorems are shown to form a sequence under supersymmetric Ward identities. In analogy with the energy momentum tensor, the supercurrents are shadow transforms of soft gravitino operators and generate an infinite-dimensional super- symmetry algebra. The algebra of $$ {\mathfrak{sbms}}_4 $$ sbms 4 generators agrees with the expectations based on earlier work on the asymptotic symmetry group of supergravity. We also show that the supertranslation operator can be written as a product of holomorphic and anti-holomorphic supercurrents.
