Title: First measurement of the $$C\!P$$-violating phase in $${{B} ^0_{s}} \!\rightarrow {{J /\psi }} ($$ $$\rightarrow $$ $$e ^+e ^-$$)$$\phi $$ decays
Abstract A flavour-tagged time-dependent angular analysis of $${{B} ^0_{s}} \!\rightarrow {{J /\psi }} \phi $$ B s 0 → J / ψ ϕ decays is presented where the $${J /\psi }$$ J / ψ meson is reconstructed through its decay to an $$e ^+e ^-$$ e + e - pair. The analysis uses a sample of pp collision data recorded with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and $$8\text {\,Te V} $$ 8 \,Te V , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $$3 \text {\,fb} ^{-1} $$ 3 \,fb - 1 . The $$C\!P$$ C P -violating phase and lifetime parameters of the $${B} ^0_{s} $$ B s 0 system are measured to be $${\phi _{{s}}} =0.00\pm 0.28\pm 0.07\text {\,rad}$$ ϕ s = 0.00 ± 0.28 ± 0.07 \,rad , $${\Delta \Gamma _{{s}}} =0.115\pm 0.045\pm 0.011\text {\,ps} ^{-1} $$ Δ Γ s = 0.115 ± 0.045 ± 0.011 \,ps - 1 and $${\Gamma _{{s}}} =0.608\pm 0.018\pm 0.012\text {\,ps} ^{-1} $$ Γ s = 0.608 ± 0.018 ± 0.012 \,ps - 1 where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This is the first time that $$C\!P$$ C P -violating parameters are measured in the $${{B} ^0_{s}} \!\rightarrow {{J /\psi }} \phi $$ B s 0 → J / ψ ϕ decay with an $$e ^+e ^-$$ e + e - pair in the final state. The results are consistent with previous measurements in other channels and with the Standard Model predictions.  more » « less

    Abstract A measurement of the $$ B_{s}^{0} \rightarrow J/\psi \phi $$ B s 0 → J / ψ ϕ decay parameters using $$ 80.5\, \mathrm {fb^{-1}} $$ 80.5 fb - 1 of integrated luminosity collected with the ATLAS detector from 13  $$\text {Te}\text {V}$$ Te proton–proton collisions at the LHC is presented. The measured parameters include the CP -violating phase $$\phi _{s} $$ ϕ s , the width difference $$ \Delta \Gamma _{s}$$ Δ Γ s between the $$B_{s}^{0}$$ B s 0 meson mass eigenstates and the average decay width $$ \Gamma _{s}$$ Γ s . The values measured for the physical parameters are combined with those from $$ 19.2\, \mathrm {fb^{-1}} $$ 19.2 fb - 1 of 7 and 8  $$\text {Te}\text {V}$$ Te data, leading to the following: $$\begin{aligned} \phi _{s}= & {} -0.087 \pm 0.036 ~\mathrm {(stat.)} \pm 0.021 ~\mathrm {(syst.)~rad} \\ \Delta \Gamma _{s}= & {} 0.0657 \pm 0.0043 ~\mathrm {(stat.)}\pm 0.0037 ~\mathrm {(syst.)~ps}^{-1} \\ \Gamma _{s}= & {} 0.6703 \pm 0.0014 ~\mathrm {(stat.)}\pm 0.0018 ~\mathrm {(syst.)~ps}^{-1} \end{aligned}$$ ϕ s = - 0.087 ± 0.036 ( stat . ) ± 0.021 ( syst . ) rad Δ Γ s = 0.0657 ± 0.0043 ( stat . ) ± 0.0037 ( syst . ) ps - 1 Γ s = 0.6703 ± 0.0014 ( stat . ) ± 0.0018 ( syst . ) ps - 1 Results for $$\phi _{s} $$ ϕ s and $$ \Delta \Gamma _{s}$$ Δ Γ s are also presented as 68% confidence level contours in the $$\phi _{s} $$ ϕ s – $$ \Delta \Gamma _{s}$$ Δ Γ s plane. Furthermore the transversity amplitudes and corresponding strong phases are measured. $$\phi _{s} $$ ϕ s and $$ \Delta \Gamma _{s}$$ Δ Γ s measurements are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions.

  2. Abstract Using a data sample of $$\sqrt{s}=13\,\text {TeV}$$ s = 13 TeV proton-proton collisions collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2017 and 2018 with an integrated luminosity of $$103\text {~fb}^{-1}$$ 103 fb - 1 , the $$\text {B}^{0}_{\mathrm{s}} \rightarrow \uppsi (\text {2S})\text {K}_\mathrm{S}^{0}$$ B s 0 → ψ ( 2S ) K S 0 and $$\text {B}^{0} \rightarrow \uppsi (\text {2S})\text {K}_\mathrm{S}^{0} \uppi ^+\uppi ^-$$ B 0 → ψ ( 2S ) K S 0 π + π - decays are observed with significances exceeding 5 standard deviations. 3. Abstract We report on the inclusive $$\text {J}/\psi $$ J / ψ production cross section measured at the CERN Large Hadron Collider in proton–proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy $$\sqrt{s}~=~13$$ s = 13  TeV. The $$\text {J}/\psi $$ J / ψ mesons are reconstructed in the $$\text {e}^{+}\text {e}^{-}$$ e + e - decay channel and the measurements are performed at midrapidity ( $$|y|<0.9$$ | y | < 0.9 ) in the transverse-momentum interval $$0 more » « less

These results constitute the world’s most stringent limits to date, with the limit on the decay $$ {B}_s^0 $$ B s 0 → ϕμ ± e ∓ the first being set. In addition, limits are reported for scalar and left-handed lepton-flavour violating New Physics scenarios.

  5. A bstract We report the measurement of the two-photon decay width of χ c 2 (1 P ) in two-photon processes at the Belle experiment. We analyze the process γγ → χ c 2 (1 P ) → J/ψγ , J/ψ → ℓ + ℓ − ( ℓ = e or μ ) using a data sample of 971 fb − 1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e − collider. In this analysis, the product of the two-photon decay width of χ c 2 (1 P ) and the branching fraction is determined to be $$ {\Gamma}_{\gamma \gamma}\left({\chi}_{c2}(1P)\right)\mathcal{B}\left({\chi}_{c2}(1P)\to J/\psi \gamma \right)\mathcal{B}\left(J/\psi \to {\ell}^{+}{\ell}^{-}\right)=14.8\pm 0.3\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 0.7\left(\textrm{syst}.\right) $$ Γ γγ χ c 2 1 P B χ c 2 1 P → J / ψγ B J / ψ → ℓ + ℓ − = 14.8 ± 0.3 stat . ± 0.7 syst . eV, which corresponds to Γ γγ ( χ c 2 (1 P )) = 653 ± 13(stat.) ± 31(syst.) ± 17(B.R.) eV, where the third uncertainty is from $$ \mathcal{B} $$ B ( χ c 2 (1 P ) → J/ψγ ) and $$ \mathcal{B} $$ B ( J/ψ → ℓ + ℓ − ).
