1. New genera and new species of Western Australian cicadas (Hemiptera: Cicadidae)

   The cicada fauna of Western Australia is briefly reviewed. Six genera and 14 species are recorded from the State for the first time bringing the total of known species and subspecies to 105 and a list of all 105 is provided. Among the taxa here recorded are five new genera and 13 new species belonging to the tribes Macrotristriini (Illyria viridis sp. n.), Pictilini (Chrysocicada trophis sp. n.), and Cicadettini (Calipsalta gen. n., Calipsalta brunnea sp. n., C. fumosa sp. n., C. viridans sp. n., Kalarko gen. n., Kalarko ferruginosus sp. n., Ewartia adusta sp. n., Parvopsalta gen. n., Parvopsalta victoriae sp. n., Pedana gen. n., Pedana hesperia sp. n., Pegapsaltria gen. n., Pegapsaltria lutea sp. n., Pyropsalta amnica sp. n., Py. patula sp. n., and Py. rhythmica sp. n). In addition, Erempsalta hermannsburgensis (Distant, 1907) is redescribed and its presence in Western Australia (and four other States) documented for the first time. Songs are analysed for all species except two species of Pyropsalta where recordings were unavailable.

   We describe three new genera and four new species of small, litter-dwelling millipedes from the states of Oregon and Washington, USA: Miniaria ramifera, n. gen., n. sp., Miniaria richarti, n. gen., n. sp., Tigraria oregonensis, n. gen., n. sp., and Kingaria prattensis, n. gen., n. sp. Some of the unusual characters of these species are discussed, including a new type of sensory array on the third tarsus of males and a newly observed mandibular gland.

3. New taxa and new records of Deltocephalini leafhoppers from Thailand (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae)

   Two new genera and three new species of the leafhopper tribe Deltocephalini are described from Thailand, viz., Loeia Duan gen. n. with L. tamtipi Duan sp. n. as type species, Phetchabunia Duan gen. n. with P. janteabi Duan sp. n. as type species, and Maiestas subsirii Duan sp. n.. Five new country records for Thailand are also given, viz. Deltocephalus vulgaris Dash & Viraktamath, Maiestas dinghuensis Zhang & Duan, Maiestas scripta (Distant), Paramesodes sp., and Polyamia acicularis Dai, Xing & Li.

4. Two new genera of Pacific Paraboloponina leafhoppers (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Drabescini) with description of three new species

   Two new genera, Malaysiapona gen. nov. and Chandrapona gen. nov. of Paraboloponina leafhoppers (Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae: Drabescini) with their unusally developed aedeagal base are described from the Pacific (Malaysia). The following new species are also described with the new genera: Malaysiapona brevipenis sp. nov. from Sabah, M. filamenta sp. nov., from Sarawak and Chandrapona vespertilis sp. nov. from Sabah.

5. On the diversity of abyssal Dondersiidae (Mollusca: Aplacophora) with the description of a new genus, six new species, and a review of the family

   So far, of the 292 known species of solenogasters (Mollusca, Aplacophora), 62 belong to the clade Pholidoskepia Salvini-Plawen, 1978. Of these, only two have an abyssal distribution (3500–6000 m depth). Among Pholidoskepia, Dondersiidae Simroth, 1893 is the most diverse family. This study contributes to the knowledge of this family with the description of one new genus and six new species from the abyssal South Atlantic Ocean: Dondersia ? foraminosa sp. n., Nematomenia divae sp. n., Nematomenia brasiliensis sp. n., Nematomenia ? guineana sp. n., Helluoherpia vieiralaneroi sp. n. and Inopinatamenia (gen. n.) calamitosa sp. n. Specimens were collected during DIVA (Latitudinal Gradients of Deep-Sea BioDIVersity in the Atlantic Ocean) expeditions in the Guinea (DIVA 2 Me 63/2, 2005) and Brazil (DIVA 3 Me 79/1, 2008) Basins. Specimens were characterized based primarily on the sclerites and internal anatomy, which was studied using histology. The importance of the radula and mantle sclerites for taxonomy is emphasized. Amended diagnoses for the family and some genera within this family are provided. This contribution increases the described diversity of Dondersiidae to ten genera and 38 species and highlights the need for more study of solenogasters in the deep sea.
