Title: Measurement of the Ratios of Branching Fractions R(D*) and R(D0)
The ratios of branching fractions R(D*)= B(B0 --> D*+tau- nu(bar))/ B(B0--> D*+mu- nu(bar)) and R(D)= B(B0 --> D0tau- nu(bar))/ B(B0 --> D0mu- nu(bar)) are measured, assuming isospin symmetry, using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb−1 of integrated luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The tau lepton is identified in the decay mode τ− → μ−ντν¯μ. The measured values are R*D*)= 0.281+/- 0.018+/- 0.024 and R(D0)=0.441+/- 0.060+/- 0.066, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The correlation between these measurements is ρ= −0.43. The results are consistent with the current average of these quantities and are at a combined 1.9 standard deviations from the predictions based on lepton flavor universality in the standard model  more » « less

  1. A search for the rare decay D 0 μ + μ is reported using proton-proton collision events at s = 13.6 TeV collected by the CMS detector in 2022–2023, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 64.5 fb 1 . This is the first analysis to use a newly developed inclusive dimuon trigger, expanding the scope of the CMS flavor physics program. The search uses D 0 mesons obtained from D * + D 0 π + decays. No significant excess is observed. A limit on the branching fraction of B ( D 0 μ + μ ) < 2.4 × 10 9 at 95% confidence level is set. This is the most stringent upper limit set on any flavor changing neutral current decay in the charm sector.

  2. We measure the tau-to-light-lepton ratio of inclusive B -meson branching fractions R ( X τ / ) B ( B X τ ν ) / B ( B X ν ) , where indicates an electron or muon, and thereby test the universality of charged-current weak interactions. We select events that have one fully reconstructed B meson and a charged lepton candidate from 189 fb 1 of electron-positron collision data collected with the Belle II detector. We find R ( X τ / ) = 0.228 ± 0.016 ( stat ) ± 0.036 ( syst ) , in agreement with standard-model expectations. This is the first direct measurement of R ( X τ / ) . 3. An amplitude analysis of B D D 0 K S 0 decays is performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb 1 , collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. A resonant structure of spin-parity 0 + is observed in the D 0 K S 0 invariant-mass spectrum with a significance of 5.3 σ . The mass and width of the state, modeled with a Breit-Wigner line shape, are determined to be 2883 ± 11 ± 8 MeV / c 2 and 87 47 + 22 ± 17 MeV , respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These properties and the quark content are consistent with those of the open-charm tetraquark candidate T c s 0 * ( 2870 ) 0 observed previously in the D + K final state of the B D D + K decay. This result confirms the existence of the T c s 0 * ( 2870 ) 0 state in a new decay mode. The T c s 1 * ( 2900 ) 0 state, reported in the B D D + K decay, is also searched for in the D 0 K S 0 invariant-mass spectrum of the B D D 0 K S 0 decay, without finding evidence for it. © 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration2025CERN

  4. A search for D 0 meson decays to the π + π e + e and K + K e + e final states is reported using a sample of proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb 1 . The decay D 0 π + π e + e is observed for the first time when requiring that the two electrons are consistent with coming from the decay of a ϕ or ρ 0 / ω meson. The corresponding branching fractions are measured relative to the D 0 K π [ e + e ] ρ 0 / ω decay, where the two electrons are consistent with coming from the decay of a ρ 0 or ω meson. No evidence is found for the D 0 K + K e + e decay and world-best limits are set on its branching fraction. The results are compared to, and found to be consistent with, the branching fractions of the D 0 π + π μ + μ and D 0 K + K μ + μ decays recently measured by LHCb and confirm lepton universality at the current precision. © 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration2025CERN
