Title: First measurement of Ds1(1+)(2536)+ and Ds2*(2+)(2573)+ production in proton-proton collisions at s=13  TeV at the LHC
The production yields of the orbitally excited charm-strange mesons Ds1 (1+)(2536)+ and Ds2* (2+)(2573)+ were measured for the first time in proton-proton (pp) collisions at a center-of-mass energy of s=13TeV with the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The Ds1+ and Ds2*+ mesons were measured at midrapidity ( |y|<0.5 ) in minimum-bias and high-multiplicity pp collisions in the transverse-momentum interval 2< pT <24GeV/c . Their production yields relative to the Ds+ ground-state yield were found to be compatible between minimum-bias and high-multiplicity collisions, as well as with previous measurements in e±p and e+e collisions. The measured Ds1+ /Ds+ and Ds2*+ /Ds+ yield ratios are described by statistical hadronization models and can be used to tune the parameters governing the production of excited charm-strange hadrons in Monte Carlo generators, such as 8.  more » « less

  1. The first observation of the decay Ξb ψ(2S) Ξ and measurement of the branching ratio of Ξb ψ(2S) Ξ to ΞbJ/ψΞ are presented. The J/ψ and ψ(2S) mesons are reconstructed using their dimuon decay modes. The results are based on proton-proton colliding beam data from the LHC collected by the CMS experiment at s=13TeV in 2016–2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140fb1 . The branching fraction ratio is measured to be B( Ξb ψ(2S) Ξ )/B( Ξb J/ψΞ )=0.8 40.19+0.21 (stat)±0.10(syst)±0.02(B) , where the last uncertainty comes from the uncertainties in the branching fractions of the charmonium states. New measurements of the Ξb(5945)0 baryon mass and natural width are also presented, using the Ξbπ+ final state, where the Ξb baryon is reconstructed through the decays J/ψΞ , ψ(2S) Ξ , J/ψΛK , and J/ψΣ0K . Finally, the fraction of Ξb baryons produced from Ξb(5945)0 decays is determined. © 2024 CERN, for the CMS Collaboration2024CERN

  2. The Ξb0() Ξc (3055)+(0)(D+(0)Λ)π decay chains are observed, and the spin-parity of Ξc(3055)+(0) baryons is determined for the first time. The measurement is performed using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of s=13TeV , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4fb1 , recorded by the LHCb experiment between 2016 and 2018. The spin-parity of the Ξc (3055)+(0) baryons is determined to be 3/2+ with a significance of more than 6.5σ ( 3.5σ ) compared to all other tested hypotheses. The up-down asymmetries of the Ξb0() Ξc (3055)+(0)π transitions are measured to be 0.92±0.10±0.05 ( 0.92±0.16±0.22 ), consistent with maximal parity violation, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. These results support the hypothesis that the Ξc(3055)+(0) baryons correspond to the first D -wave λ -mode excitation of the Ξc flavor triplet. © 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration2025CERN

  3. We report the first observation of the radiative decay Ds0* (2317)+ Ds*+ γ with a statistical significance exceeding 10 standard deviations. The signal is observed in the continuum e+ecc¯ process, using combined data samples of 980.4fb1 from Belle and 427.9fb1 from Belle II, collected at the KEKB and SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy e+e colliders, respectively. The branching fraction ratio B[ Ds0* (2317)+ Ds*+ γ]/B[ Ds0* (2317)+ Ds+ π0] is measured to be [7.13±0.70(stat)±0.26(syst)]% . This result provides crucial discrimination between theoretical models of the Ds0* (2317)+ structure.

  4. We report the first evidence for the hb (2P)ϒ(1S)η transition with a significance of 3.5 standard deviations. The decay branching fraction is measured to be B[ hb (2P)ϒ(1S)η]=( 7.13.2+3.7 ±0.8)×103 , which is noticeably smaller than expected. We also set upper limits on π0 transitions of B[ hb (2P)ϒ(1S)π0]<1.8×103 , and B[ hb (1P)ϒ(1S)π0]<1.8×103 , at the 90% confidence level. These results are obtained with a 131.4fb1 data sample collected near the ϒ(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e collider. 5. We report the results of the first search for Standard Model and baryon-number-violating two-body decays of the neutral B mesons to Λ0 and Ωc(*)0 using 711fb1 of data collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e collider. We observe no evidence of signal from any such decays and set 95% confidence-level upper limits on the products of B0 and B¯ 0 branching fractions for these two-body decays with B( Ωc0 π+Ω) in the range between 9.5×108 and 31.2×108 .
