The first results of the study of high-energy electron neutrino ( ) and muon neutrino ( ) charged-current interactions in the emulsion-tungsten detector of the FASER experiment at the LHC are presented. A 128.8 kg subset of the volume was analyzed after exposure to of data. Four (eight) ( ) interaction candidate events are observed with a statistical significance of ( ). This is the first direct observation of interactions at a particle collider and includes the highest-energy and ever detected from an artificial source. The interaction cross section per nucleon is measured over an energy range of 560–1740 GeV (520–1760 GeV) for ( ) to be [ ], consistent with standard model predictions. Measurement of d2σ/d|q→|dEavail in charged current νμ -nucleus interactions at ⟨Eν⟩=1.86 GeV using the NOvA Near Detector
Double- and single-differential cross sections for inclusive charged-current -nucleus scattering are reported for the kinematic domain 0 to in three-momentum transfer and 0 to 2 GeV in available energy, at a mean energy of 1.86 GeV. The measurements are based on an estimated 995,760 charged-current (CC) interactions in the scintillator medium of the NOvA Near Detector. The subdomain populated by 2-particle-2-hole (2p2h) reactions is identified by the cross section excess relative to predictions for -nucleus scattering that are constrained by a data control sample. Models for 2-particle-2-hole processes are rated by comparisons of the predicted-versus-measured CC inclusive cross section over the full phase space and in the restricted subdomain. Shortfalls are observed in neutrino generator predictions obtained using the theory-based València and SuSAv2 2p2h models. Published by the American Physical Society2025

Nuclear medium effects on meson production are studied using the binary-collision scaled cross section ratio between events of different charged-particle multiplicities from proton-lead collisions. Data, collected by the CMS experiment in 2016 at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of , were used. The scaling factors in the ratio are determined using a novel approach based on the cross sections measured in the same events. This Letter presents the most precise measurement to date of the matter-antimatter imbalance at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair . Using the Statistical Hadronization framework, it is possible to obtain the value of the electric charge and baryon chemical potentials, and , with unprecedented precision. A centrality-differential study of the antiparticle-to-particle yield ratios of charged pions, protons, baryons, and light (hyper)nuclei is performed. The production of the charmonium state was measured with ALICE in Pb-Pb collisions at , in the dimuon decay channel. A significant signal was observed for the first time at LHC energies down to zero transverse momentum, at forward rapidity ( ). The measurement of the ratio of the inclusive production cross sections of the and resonances is reported as a function of the centrality of the collisions and of transverse momentum, in the region . The results are compared with the corresponding measurements in collisions, by forming the double ratio . It is found that in Pb-Pb collisions the is suppressed by a factor of with respect to the . The nuclear modification factor was also obtained as a function of both centrality and . The results show that the resonance yield is strongly suppressed in Pb-Pb collisions, by a factor of up to with respect to . Comparisons of cross section ratios with previous Super Proton Synchrotron findings by the NA50 experiment and of with higher- results at LHC energy are also reported.
