Title: Surface acoustic waves and lattice vibrations in two-dimensional Ti3C2Tx (T=O, F) MXene films
We investigated surface acoustic wave (SAW) propagation and lattice vibrations in two-dimensional (2D) titanium carbide ( Ti 3 C 2 T x ) MXene films as a function of surface termination and layer stacking, using atomistic simulations. We found that SAW propagation velocity is highly sensitive to both single-layer properties and interlayer bonding. Surface terminations significantly modulate wave behavior, with oxygen and fluorine terminations producing distinct effects on wave propagation, with oxygen-terminated monolayers exhibiting 20% higher wave speeds than fluorine counterparts due to strengthened intralayer bonds. Key observations include the transition from one to two layers causing wave speed variations, and the development of interlayer modes that generate more dispersed lattice vibrations. As the film layer thickness increases, SAW propagation becomes predominantly confined to the upper surface, with coherence of vibrational modes diminishing in multilayer structures. These findings suggest MXene terminations and layer stacking are crucial parameters for controlling SAW behavior, offering promising avenues for novel acoustic wave device applications. The inclusive production of the charm-strange baryon Ω c 0 is measured for the first time via its semileptonic decay into Ω e + ν e at midrapidity ( | y | < 0.8 ) in proton-proton (pp) collisions at the center-of-mass energy s = 13 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The transverse momentum ( p T ) differential cross section multiplied by the branching ratio is presented in the interval 2 < p T < 12 GeV / c . The branching-fraction ratio BR ( Ω c 0 Ω e + ν e ) / BR ( Ω c 0 Ω π + ) is measured to be 1.12 ± 0.22 (stat) ± 0.27 (syst).   2. We search for excited charmed baryons in the Λ c + η system using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980 fb 1 . The data were collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e asymmetric-energy collider. No significant signals are found in the Λ c + η mass spectrum, including the known Λ c ( 2880 ) + and Λ c ( 2940 ) + . Clear Λ c ( 2880 ) + and Λ c ( 2940 ) + signals are observed in the p D 0 mass spectrum. We set upper limits at 90% credibility level on ratios of branching fractions of Λ c ( 2880 ) + and Λ c ( 2940 ) + decaying to Λ c + η relative to Σ c ( 2455 ) π of < 0.13 for the Λ c ( 2880 ) + and < 1.11 for the Λ c ( 2940 ) + . We measure ratios of branching fractions of Λ c ( 2880 ) + and Λ c ( 2940 ) + decaying to p D 0 relative to Σ c ( 2455 ) π of 0.75 ± 0.03 ( stat ) ± 0.07 ( syst ) for the Λ c ( 2880 ) + and 3.59 ± 0.21 ( stat ) ± 0.56 ( syst ) for the Λ c ( 2940 ) + .   3. We report the first evidence for the h b ( 2 P ) ϒ ( 1 S ) η transition with a significance of 3.5 standard deviations. The decay branching fraction is measured to be B [ h b ( 2 P ) ϒ ( 1 S ) η ] = ( 7.1 3.2 + 3.7 ± 0.8 ) × 10 3 , which is noticeably smaller than expected. We also set upper limits on π 0 transitions of B [ h b ( 2 P ) ϒ ( 1 S ) π 0 ] < 1.8 × 10 3 , and B [ h b ( 1 P ) ϒ ( 1 S ) π 0 ] < 1.8 × 10 3 , at the 90% confidence level. These results are obtained with a 131.4 fb 1 data sample collected near the ϒ ( 5 S ) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e collider. The ALICE Collaboration reports the measurement of semi-inclusive distributions of charged-particle jets recoiling from a high transverse momentum (high p T ) hadron trigger in proton-proton and central Pb-Pb collisions at s NN = 5.02 TeV . A data-driven statistical method is used to mitigate the large uncorrelated background in central Pb-Pb collisions. Recoil jet distributions are reported for jet resolution parameter R = 0.2 , 0.4, and 0.5 in the range 7 < p T , jet < 140 GeV / c and trigger-recoil jet azimuthal separation π / 2 < Δ φ < π . The measurements exhibit a marked medium-induced jet yield enhancement at low p T and at large azimuthal deviation from Δ φ π . The enhancement is characterized by its dependence on Δ φ , which has a slope that differs from zero by 4.7 σ . Comparisons to model calculations incorporating different formulations of jet quenching are reported. These comparisons indicate that the observed yield enhancement arises from the response of the QGP medium to jet propagation. © 2024 CERN, for the ALICE Collaboration2024CERN

  5. The Ξ b 0 ( ) Ξ c ( 3055 ) + ( 0 ) ( D + ( 0 ) Λ ) π decay chains are observed, and the spin-parity of Ξ c ( 3055 ) + ( 0 ) baryons is determined for the first time. The measurement is performed using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of s = 13 TeV , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb 1 , recorded by the LHCb experiment between 2016 and 2018. The spin-parity of the Ξ c ( 3055 ) + ( 0 ) baryons is determined to be 3 / 2 + with a significance of more than 6.5 σ ( 3.5 σ ) compared to all other tested hypotheses. The up-down asymmetries of the Ξ b 0 ( ) Ξ c ( 3055 ) + ( 0 ) π transitions are measured to be 0.92 ± 0.10 ± 0.05 ( 0.92 ± 0.16 ± 0.22 ), consistent with maximal parity violation, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. These results support the hypothesis that the Ξ c ( 3055 ) + ( 0 ) baryons correspond to the first D -wave λ -mode excitation of the Ξ c flavor triplet. © 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration2025CERN
