Abstract Using data samples of 983.0 fb−1and 427.9 fb−1accumulated with the Belle and Belle II detectors operating at the KEKB and SuperKEKB asymmetric-energye+e−colliders, singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays$$ {\Xi}_c^{+}\to p{K}_S^0 $$ ,$$ {\Xi}_c^{+}\to \Lambda {\pi}^{+} $$ , and$$ {\Xi}_c^{+}\to {\Sigma}^0{\pi}^{+} $$ are observed for the first time. The ratios of branching fractions of$$ {\Xi}_c^{+}\to p{K}_S^0 $$ ,$$ {\Xi}_c^{+}\to \Lambda {\pi}^{+} $$ , and$$ {\Xi}_c^{+}\to {\Sigma}^0{\pi}^{+} $$ relative to that of$$ {\Xi}_c^{+}\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{+} $$ are measured to be$$ {\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^{+}\to p{K}_S^0\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^{+}\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{+}\right)}=\left(2.47\pm 0.16\pm 0.07\right)\%,\\ {}\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^{+}\to \Lambda {\pi}^{+}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^{+}\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{+}\right)}=\left(1.56\pm 0.14\pm 0.09\right)\%,\\ {}\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^{+}\to {\Sigma}^0{\pi}^{+}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^{+}\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{+}\right)}=\left(4.13\pm 0.26\pm 0.22\right)\%.\end{array}} $$ Multiplying these values by the branching fraction of the normalization channel,$$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^{+}\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{+}\right)=\left(2.9\pm 1.3\right)\% $$ , the absolute branching fractions are determined to be$$ {\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^{+}\to p{K}_S^0\right)=\left(7.16\pm 0.46\pm 0.20\pm 3.21\right)\times {10}^{-4},\\ {}\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^{+}\to \Lambda {\pi}^{+}\right)=\left(4.52\pm 0.41\pm 0.26\pm 2.03\right)\times {10}^{-4},\\ {}\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^{+}\to {\Sigma}^0{\pi}^{+}\right)=\left(1.20\pm 0.08\pm 0.07\pm 0.54\right)\times {10}^{-3}.\end{array}} $$ The first and second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise from the uncertainty in$$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^{+}\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{+}\right) $$ .

Search for CP violation in $$ {D}_{(s)}^{+}\to {K}_S^0{K}^{-}{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{+} $$ decays using triple and quadruple products

Abstract We perform the first search forCPviolation in$$ {D}_{(s)}^{+}\to {K}_S^0{K}^{-}{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{+} $$ decays. We use a combined data set from the Belle and Belle II experiments, which studye+e−collisions at center-of-mass energies at or near the Υ(4S) resonance. We use 980 fb−1of data from Belle and 428 fb−1of data from Belle II. We measure sixCP-violating asymmetries that are based on triple products and quadruple products of the momenta of final-state particles, and also the particles’ helicity angles. We obtain a precision at the level of 0.5% for$$ {D}^{+}\to {K}_S^0{K}^{-}{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{+} $$ decays, and better than 0.3% for$$ {D}_s^{+}\to {K}_S^0{K}^{-}{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{+} $$ decays. No evidence ofCPviolation is found. Our results for the triple-product asymmetries are the most precise to date for singly-Cabibbo-suppressedD+decays. Our results for the other asymmetries are the first such measurements performed for charm decays.

Abstract We present measurements of the branching fractions of eight$$ {\overline{B}}^0 $$ →D(*)+K−$$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ ,B−→D(*)0K−$$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ decay channels. The results are based on data from SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions at the Υ(4S) resonance collected with the Belle II detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 362 fb−1. The event yields are extracted from fits to the distributions of the difference between expected and observedBmeson energy, and are efficiency-corrected as a function ofm(K−$$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ ) andm(D(*)$$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ ) in order to avoid dependence on the decay model. These results include the first observation of$$ {\overline{B}}^0 $$ →D+K−$$ {K}_S^0 $$ ,B−→D*0K−$$ {K}_S^0 $$ , and$$ {\overline{B}}^0 $$ →D*+K−$$ {K}_S^0 $$ decays and a significant improvement in the precision of the other channels compared to previous measurements. The helicity-angle distributions and the invariant mass distributions of theK−$$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ systems are compatible with quasi-two-body decays via a resonant transition with spin-parityJP= 1−for theK−$$ {K}_S^0 $$ systems andJP= 1+for theK−K*0systems. We also present measurements of the branching fractions of four$$ {\overline{B}}^0 $$ →D(*)+$$ {D}_s^{-} $$ ,B−→D(*)0$$ {D}_s^{-} $$ decay channels with a precision compatible to the current world averages.more » « less

            Abstract A time-dependent, flavour-tagged measurement ofCPviolation is performed withB0→ D+D−and$$ {B}_s^0 $$ →$$ {D}_s^{+}{D}_s^{-} $$ decays, using data collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb−1. InB0→ D+D−decays theCP-violation parameters are measured to be$$ {\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}{S}_{D^{+}{D}^{-}}=-0.552\pm 0.100\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.010\left(\textrm{syst}\right),\\ {}{C}_{D^{+}{D}^{-}}=0.128\pm 0.103\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.010\left(\textrm{syst}\right).\end{array}} $$ In$$ {B}_s^0 $$ →$$ {D}_s^{+}{D}_s^{-} $$ decays theCP-violating parameter formulation in terms ofϕsand|λ|results in$$ {\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}{\phi}_s=-0.086\pm 0.106\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.028\left(\textrm{syst}\right)\textrm{rad},\\ {}\mid {\lambda}_{D_s^{+}{D}_s^{-}}\mid =1.145\pm 0.126\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.031\left(\textrm{syst}\right).\end{array}} $$ These results represent the most precise single measurement of theCP-violation parameters in their respective channels. For the first time in a single measurement,CPsymmetry is observed to be violated inB0→ D+D−decays with a significance exceeding six standard deviations.more » « less

Abstract We report results from a study ofB±→ DK±decays followed byDdecaying to theCP-even final stateK+K−and CP-odd final state$$ {K}_S^0{\pi}^0 $$ , whereDis an admixture ofD0and$$ {\overline{D}}^0 $$ states. These decays are sensitive to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa unitarity-triangle angleϕ3. The results are based on a combined analysis of the final data set of 772×106$$ B\overline{B} $$ pairs collected by the Belle experiment and a data set of 198×106$$ B\overline{B} $$ pairs collected by the Belle II experiment, both in electron-positron collisions at the Υ(4S) resonance. We measure the CP asymmetries to be$$ \mathcal{A} $$ CP+= (+12.5±5.8±1.4)% and$$ \mathcal{A} $$ CP−= (−16.7±5.7±0.6)%, and the ratios of branching fractions to be$$ \mathcal{R} $$ CP+= 1.164±0.081±0.036 and$$ \mathcal{R} $$ CP−= 1.151±0.074±0.019. The first contribution to the uncertainties is statistical, and the second is systematic. The asymmetries$$ \mathcal{A} $$ CP+and$$ \mathcal{A} $$ CP−have similar magnitudes and opposite signs; their difference corresponds to 3.5 standard deviations. From these values we calculate 68.3% confidence intervals of (8.5°<ϕ3< 16.5°) or (84.5°<ϕ3< 95.5°) or (163.3°<ϕ3< 171.5°) and 0.321 <rB< 0.465.more » « less

A study of this channel is presented with theDmeson reconstructed in two-body final statesK±π∓,K+K−andπ+π−; four-body final statesK±π∓π±π∓andπ+π−π+π−; and three-body final states$$ {K}_{\textrm{S}}^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-} $$ and$$ {K}_{\textrm{S}}^0{K}^{+}{K}^{-} $$ . This analysis includes the first observation of the suppressedB±→[π±K∓]DK*±andB±→[π±K∓π±π∓]DK*±decays. The combined result givesγ= (63±13)°.more » « less
