The 5th International Workshop on Software Engineering Education for the Next Generation was held on May 16, 2023 in Melbourne, Australia. The workshop was part of the 45th International Conference on Software Engineering. It specifically supported the general theme of Educating the Next Generation of Software Engineers. Building on its predecessors, the workshop used a highly interactive format, structured around eight short paper presentations to generate discussion topics, an activity to select the most interesting topics, and structured breakout sessions. This enabled the participants to discuss the most interesting topics in detail. Participants presented the results of the breakout sessions using mind maps.

Today's Students, Tomorrow's Bioeconomy Professionals
This paper reflects on the outcomes of a student-centered workshop held during the Indian Ecological Society International Conference, held at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Punjab, 12 – 15 November 2024.The students' workshop was a follow-up on the topics developed in the Symposium on “Agriculture, Climate Changes, and Energy Transitions: Building Capacity to Maintain Yields of Innovative Agrifood Systems” held during the conference. Its major purpose was to encourage discussions among conference participants about specific research agendas and potential teaching plans. Students worked in groups of four to five to provide ideas for improving teaching and learning and ideas for future research. They consistently mentioned a need to grasp the practical application of their classroom studies. Most of the research ideas focused on conservation or enhancement of resources used in agriculture and many involved cross-disciplinary topics, such as the expansion of data analysis technologies to promote resilience for agricultural communities. The results parallel the principles outlined as key to a bioeconomy, outlined by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

The published Proceedings of the Conference on Cybersecurity Education, Research and Practice, held annually at Kennesaw State University, GA, USA. CCERP is one of the first major forums for the presentation of pedagogical experience, research findings and industry best practices to support the development and conduct of Information Security curriculum in higher education. Prior to 2016 the conference was branded as the Information Security Curriculum Development Conference. We have rebranded the event to expand the scope of acceptable discussion topics, while retaining a focus on the usability of content for faculty members teaching and researching in information security and cybersecurity. The website at http://digitalcommons.kennesaw.edu/ccerp is also host to the document management system for the Conference.more » « less

This paper summarizes the discussions which took place during the PITT-PACC Workshop entitled “Non-Standard Cosmological Epochs and Expansion Histories,” held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sept. 5–7, 2024. Much like the non-standard cosmological epochs that were the subject of these discussions, the format of this workshop was also non-standard. Rather than consisting of a series of talks from participants, with each person presenting their own work, this workshop was instead organized around free-form discussion blocks, with each centered on a different overall theme and guided by a different set of Discussion Leaders. This document is not intended to serve as a comprehensive review of these topics, but rather as an informal record of the discussions that took place during the workshop, in the hope that the content and free-flowing spirit of these discussions may inspire new ideas and research directions.more » « less

Welcome to the 4 th Workshop on Education for High Performance Computing (EduHiPC 2022). The EduHiPC 2022 workshop, held in conjunction with the IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing Data & Analytics (HiPC 2022), is devoted to the development and assessment of educational and curricular innovations and resources for undergraduate and graduate education in Parallel and Distributed Computing (PDC) and High Performance Computing (HPC). EduHiPC brings together individuals from academia, industry, and other educational and research institutes to explore new ideas, challenges, and experiences related to PDC pedagogy and curricula. The workshop is designed in coordination with the IEEE TCPP curriculum initiative on parallel and distributed computing ( hitps://tcpp.cs.gsu .edu/curriculum/) for undergraduates majoring in computer science and computer engineering. It is supported by C-DAC, India and the US National Science Foundation (NSF) supported Center for Parallel and Distributed Computing Curriculum Development and Educational Resources (CDER). Details for attending the workshop are available on the HiPC webpage (HiPC). The effect of pandemic on academic and research community seems now to be globally receding as was evident from the enthusiastic in-person participation of conference delegates. Please visit the EduHiPC-22 webpage for the complete online proceedings, including copies of papers and presentation slides: EduHiPC 2022 | NSF/IEEE-TCPP Curriculum Initiative.more » « less
