Title: The Jordan–Chevalley decomposition for 𝐺-bundles on elliptic curves
We study the moduli stack of degree 0 0 semistable G G -bundles on an irreducible curve E E of arithmetic genus 1 1 , where G G is a connected reductive group in arbitrary characteristic. Our main result describes a partition of this stack indexed by a certain family of connected reductive subgroups H H of G G (the E E -pseudo-Levi subgroups), where each stratum is computed in terms of H H -bundles together with the action of the relative Weyl group. We show that this result is equivalent to a Jordan–Chevalley theorem for such bundles equipped with a framing at a fixed basepoint. In the case where E E has a single cusp (respectively, node), this gives a new proof of the Jordan–Chevalley theorem for the Lie algebra g \mathfrak {g} (respectively, algebraic group G G ). We also provide a Tannakian description of these moduli stacks and use it to show that if E E is not a supersingular elliptic curve, the moduli of framed unipotent bundles on E E are equivariantly isomorphic to the unipotent cone in G G . Finally, we classify the E E -pseudo-Levi subgroups using the Borel–de Siebenthal algorithm, and compute some explicit examples.  more » « less

  1. Abstract We consider a special class of unipotent periods for automorphic forms on a finite cover of a reductive adelic group $$\mathbf {G}(\mathbb {A}_\mathbb {K})$$ G ( A K ) , which we refer to as Fourier coefficients associated to the data of a ‘Whittaker pair’. We describe a quasi-order on Fourier coefficients, and an algorithm that gives an explicit formula for any coefficient in terms of integrals and sums involving higher coefficients. The maximal elements for the quasi-order are ‘Levi-distinguished’ Fourier coefficients, which correspond to taking the constant term along the unipotent radical of a parabolic subgroup, and then further taking a Fourier coefficient with respect to a $${\mathbb K}$$ K -distinguished nilpotent orbit in the Levi quotient. Thus one can express any Fourier coefficient, including the form itself, in terms of higher Levi-distinguished coefficients. In companion papers we use this result to determine explicit Fourier expansions of minimal and next-to-minimal automorphic forms on split simply-laced reductive groups, and to obtain Euler product decompositions of certain Fourier coefficients.

  2. Abstract We study Hecke operators associated with curves over a non-archimedean local field $$K$$ and over the rings $$O/\mathfrak{m}^{N}$$, where $$O\subset K$$ is the ring of integers. Our main result is commutativity of a certain “small” local Hecke algebra over $$O/\mathfrak{m}^{N}$$, associated with a connected split reductive group $$G$$ such that $[G,G]$ is simply connected. The proof uses a Hecke algebra associated with $$G(K(\!(t)\!))$$ and a global argument involving $$G$$-bundles on curves.

  4. Let $$G$$ be a semisimple simply connected complex algebraic group. Let $$U$$ be the unipotent radical of a Borel subgroup in $$G$$. We describe the coordinate rings of $$U$$ (resp., $G/U$, $$G$$) in terms of two (resp., four, eight) birational charts introduced by Lusztig [Total positivity in reductive groups, Birkhäuser Boston, Boston, MA, 1994; Bull. 5. For finitely generated groups G and H equipped with word metrics, a translation-like action of H on G is a free action where each element of H moves elements of G a bounded distance. Translation-like actions provide a geometric generalization of subgroup containment. Extending work of Cohen, we show that cocompact lattices in a general semisimple Lie group G that is not isogenous to SL(2,ℝ) admit translation-like actions by ℤ2. This result follows from a more general result. Namely, we prove that any cocompact lattice in the unipotent radical N of the Borel subgroup AN of G acts translation-like on any cocompact lattice in G. We also prove that for noncompact simple Lie groups G,H with H
