   The ratios of branching fractions R(D*)= B(B0 --> D*+tau- nu(bar))/ B(B0--> D*+mu- nu(bar)) and R(D)= B(B0 --> D0tau- nu(bar))/ B(B0 --> D0mu- nu(bar)) are measured, assuming isospin symmetry, using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb−1 of integrated luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The tau lepton is identified in the decay mode τ− → μ−ντν¯μ. The measured values are R*D*)= 0.281+/- 0.018+/- 0.024 and R(D0)=0.441+/- 0.060+/- 0.066, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The correlation between these measurements is ρ= −0.43. The results are consistent with the current average of these quantities and are at a combined 1.9 standard deviations from the predictions based on lepton flavor universality in the standard model

5. Observation of the ${\mathrm{\Xi }}_b^{-}\to \psi \left(2S\right){\mathrm{\Xi }}^{-}$ decay and studies of the ${\mathrm{\Xi }}_b(5945{)}^0$ baryon in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13\mathrm{TeV}$

   The first observation of the decay ${\mathrm{\Xi }}_b^{-}\to \psi \left(2S\right){\mathrm{\Xi }}^{-}$and measurement of the branching ratio of ${\mathrm{\Xi }}_b^{-}\to \psi \left(2S\right){\mathrm{\Xi }}^{-}$to ${\mathrm{\Xi }}_b^{-}\to J/\psi {\mathrm{\Xi }}^{-}$are presented. The $J/\psi$and $\psi \left(2S\right)$mesons are reconstructed using their dimuon decay modes. The results are based on proton-proton colliding beam data from the LHC collected by the CMS experiment at $\sqrt{s}=13\mathrm{TeV}$in 2016–2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $140{\mathrm{fb}}^{-1}$. The branching fraction ratio is measured to be $\mathcal{B}\left({\mathrm{\Xi }}_b^{-}\to \psi \left(2S\right){\mathrm{\Xi }}^{-}\right)/\mathcal{B}\left({\mathrm{\Xi }}_b^{-}\to J/\psi {\mathrm{\Xi }}^{-}\right)=0.84_{-0.19}^{+0.21}\left(\mathrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.10\left(\mathrm{syst}\right)\pm 0.02\left(\mathcal{B}\right)$, where the last uncertainty comes from the uncertainties in the branching fractions of the charmonium states. New measurements of the ${\mathrm{\Xi }}_b(5945{)}^0$baryon mass and natural width are also presented, using the ${\mathrm{\Xi }}_b^{-}{\pi }^{+}$final state, where the ${\mathrm{\Xi }}_b^{-}$baryon is reconstructed through the decays $J/\psi {\mathrm{\Xi }}^{-}$, $\psi \left(2S\right){\mathrm{\Xi }}^{-}$, $J/\psi \mathrm{\Lambda }{K}^{-}$, and $J/\psi {\mathrm{\Sigma }}^0{K}^{-}$. Finally, the fraction of ${\mathrm{\Xi }}_b^{-}$baryons produced from ${\mathrm{\Xi }}_b(5945{)}^0$decays is determined. © 2024 CERN, for the CMS Collaboration2024CERN
