Title: Entropy of radiation with dynamical gravity
Abstract We compute the subregion entanglement entropy for a doubly holographic black string model. This system consists of a non-gravitating bath and a gravitating brane, where we incorporate dynamic gravity by adding a DGP term. This opens up a new parameter directly extending previous work and raises an important question about unitarity. In this note we analyse which theories in this big parameter space, will have unitary entropy evolution, in particular, we will distinguish which of those will follow a Page curve.  more » « less

  1. Abstract In this brief note we calculate the entanglement entropy inM⊗N/SNsymmetric orbifold CFTs in the presence of topological defects, which were recently constructed in [1, 2]. We consider both universal defects which realizeRep(SN) non-invertible symmetry and non-universal defects. We calculate the sub-leading defect entropy/g-factor for defects at the boundary of the entangling surface as well as inside it.

  2. Abstract We propose an algebra of operators along an observer’s worldline as a background-independent algebra in quantum gravity. In that context, it is natural to think of the Hartle-Hawking no boundary state as a universal state of maximum entropy, and to define entropy in terms of the relative entropy with this state. In the case that the only spacetimes considered correspond to de Sitter vacua with different values of the cosmological constant, this definition leads to sensible results.

  3. Abstract In AdS/CFT, observables on the boundary are invariant under renormalization group (RG) flow in the bulk. In this paper, we study holographic entanglement entropy under bulk RG flow and find that it is indeed invariant. We focus on tree-level RG flow, where massive fields in a UV theory are integrated out to give the IR theory. We explicitly show that in several simple examples, holographic entanglement entropy calculated in the UV theory agrees with that calculated in the IR theory. Moreover, we give an argument for this agreement to hold for general tree-level RG flow. Along the way, we generalize the replica method of calculating holographic entanglement entropy to bulk theories that include matter fields with nonzero spin.

  4. Abstract We construct a novel flux tube entanglement entropy (FTE2), defined as the excess entanglement entropy relative to the vacuum of a region of color flux stretching between a heavy quark-anti-quark pair in pure gauge Yang-Mills theory. We show that FTE2can be expressed in terms of correlators of Polyakov loops, is manifestly gauge-invariant, and therefore free of the ambiguities in computations of the entanglement entropy in gauge theories related to the choice of the center algebra. Employing the replica trick, we compute FTE2for SU(2) Yang-Mills theory in (2+1)D and demonstrate that it is finite in the continuum limit. We explore the properties of FTE2for a half-slab geometry, which allows us to vary the width and location of the slab, and the extent to which the slab cross-cuts the color flux tube. Following the intuition provided by computations of FTE2in (1+1)D, and in a thin string model, we examine the extent to which our FTE2results can be interpreted as the sum of an internal color entropy and a vibrational entropy corresponding to the transverse excitations of the string.

  5. Abstract We study the entanglement phase structure of a holographic boundary conformal field theory (BCFT) in a two-dimensional black hole background. The bulk dual is the AdS3black string geometry with a Karch-Randall brane. We compute the subregion entanglement entropy of various two-sided bipartitions to elucidate the phase space where a Page curve exists in this setup. We do fully analytical computations on both the gravity side and the field theory side and demonstrate that the results precisely match. We discuss the entanglement phase structure describing where a Page curve exists in this geometry in the context of these analytical results. This is a useful model to study entanglement entropy for quantum field theory on a curved background.
