Title: Quasi-projectivity of images of mixed period maps
Abstract We prove a mixed version of a conjecture of Griffiths: that the closure of the image of any admissible mixed period map is quasi-projective, with a natural ample bundle. Specifically, we consider the map from the image of the mixed period map to the image of the period map of the associated graded. On the one hand, we show in a precise manner that the parts of this map parametrizing extension data of non-adjacent-weight pure Hodge structures are quasi-affine. On the other hand, extensions of adjacent-weight pure polarized Hodge structures are parametrized by a compact complex torus (the intermediate Jacobian) equipped with a natural theta bundle which is ample in Griffiths transverse directions. Our proof makes heavy use of o-minimality, and recent work with B. Klingler associating an an , exp {\mathbb{R}_{\mathrm{an},\exp}}-definable structure to mixed period domains and admissible mixed period maps.  more » « less

  1. Abstract A conjecture of Erdős states that, for any large primeq, every reduced residue class ( mod q ) {(\operatorname{mod}q)}can be represented as a product p 1 p 2 {p_{1}p_{2}}of two primes p 1 , p 2 q {p_{1},p_{2}\leq q}. We establish a ternary version of this conjecture, showing that, for any sufficiently large cube-free integerq, every reduced residue class ( mod q ) {(\operatorname{mod}q)}can be written as p 1 p 2 p 3 {p_{1}p_{2}p_{3}}with p 1 , p 2 , p 3 q {p_{1},p_{2},p_{3}\leq q}primes. We also show that, for any ε > 0 {\varepsilon>0}and any sufficiently large integerq, at least ( 2 3 - ε ) φ ( q ) {(\frac{2}{3}-\varepsilon)\varphi(q)}reduced residue classes ( mod q ) {(\operatorname{mod}q)}can be represented as a product p 1 p 2 {p_{1}p_{2}}of two primes p 1 , p 2 q {p_{1},p_{2}\leq q}.The problems naturally reduce to studying character sums. The main innovation in the paper is the establishment of a multiplicative dense model theorem for character sums over primes in the spirit of the transference principle. In order to deal with possible local obstructions we establish bounds for the logarithmic density of primes in certain unions of cosets of subgroups of q × {\mathbb{Z}_{q}^{\times}}of small index and study in detail the exceptional case that there exists a quadratic character ψ ( mod q ) {\psi~{}(\operatorname{mod}\,q)}such that ψ ( p ) = - 1 {\psi(p)=-1}for very many primes p q {p\leq q}.

  2. Abstract Let E / Q \mathrm{E}/\mathbb{Q}be an elliptic curve and 𝑝 a prime of supersingular reduction for E \mathrm{E}.Consider a quadratic extension L / Q p L/\mathbb{Q}_{p}and the corresponding anticyclotomic Z p \mathbb{Z}_{p}-extension L / L L_{\infty}/L.We analyze the structure of the points E ( L ) \mathrm{E}(L_{\infty})and describe two global implications of our results.

  3. Abstract We study the family of irreducible modules for quantum affine 𝔰 𝔩 n + 1 {\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1}}whose Drinfeld polynomials are supported on just one node of the Dynkin diagram. We identify all the prime modules in this family and prove a unique factorization theorem. The Drinfeld polynomials of the prime modules encode information coming from the points of reducibility of tensor products of the fundamental modules associated to A m {A_{m}}with m n {m\leq n}. These prime modules are a special class of the snake modules studied by Mukhin and Young. We relate our modules to the work of Hernandez and Leclerc and define generalizations of the category 𝒞 - {\mathscr{C}^{-}}. This leads naturally to the notion of an inflation of the corresponding Grothendieck ring. In the last section we show that the tensor product of a (higher order) Kirillov–Reshetikhin module with its dual always contains an imaginary module in its Jordan–Hölder series and give an explicit formula for its Drinfeld polynomial. Together with the results of [D. Hernandez and B. Leclerc,A cluster algebra approach toq-characters of Kirillov–Reshetikhin modules,J. Eur. Math. Soc. (JEMS) 18 2016, 5, 1113–1159] this gives examples of a product of cluster variables which are not in the span of cluster monomials. We also discuss the connection of our work with the examples arising from the work of [E. Lapid and A. Mínguez,Geometric conditions for \square-irreducibility of certain representations of the general linear group over a non-archimedean local field,Adv. Math. 339 2018, 113–190]. Finally, we use our methods to give a family of imaginary modules in type D 4 {D_{4}}which do not arise from an embedding of A r {A_{r}}with r 3 {r\leq 3}in D 4 {D_{4}}.

  4. Abstract Let K / Q p K/\mathbf{Q}_{p}be unramified.Inside the Emerton–Gee stack X 2 \mathcal{X}_{2}, one can consider the locus of two-dimensional mod 𝑝 representations of Gal ( K ̄ / K ) \mathrm{Gal}(\overline{K}/K)having a crystalline lift with specified Hodge–Tate weights. We study the case where the Hodge–Tate weights are irregular, which is an analogue for Galois representations of the partial weight one condition for Hilbert modular forms. We prove that if the gap between each pair of weights is bounded by 𝑝 (the irregular analogue of a Serre weight), then this locus is irreducible. We also establish various inclusion relations between these loci.

  5. Abstract Let 𝑋 be a Kähler manifold with semiample canonical bundle K X K_{X}.It is proved in [W. Jian, Y. Shi and J. Song, A remark on constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics on minimal models,Proc. Amer. Math. Soc.147(2019), 8, 3507–3513] that, for any Kähler class 𝛾, there exists δ > 0 \delta>0such that, for all t ( 0 , δ ) t\in(0,\delta), there exists a unique cscK metric g t g_{t}in K X + t γ K_{X}+t\gamma.In this paper, we prove that { ( X , g t ) } t ( 0 , δ ) \{(X,g_{t})\}_{t\in(0,\delta)}have uniformly bounded Kähler potentials, volume forms and diameters.As a consequence, these metric spaces are pre-compact in the Gromov–Hausdorff sense.
