Title: Dyonic bound states
Abstract We study (multi) fermion - monopole bound states, many of which are the states that dyons adiabatically transition into as fermions become light. The properties of these bound states depend critically on the UV symmetries preserved by the fermion mass terms, their relative size, and the value ofθ. Depending on the relative size of the mass terms and the value ofθ, the bound states can undergo phase transitions as well as transition from being stable to unstable. In some simple situations, the bound state solution can be related to the Witten effect of another theory with fewer fermions and larger gauge coupling. These bound states are a result of mass terms and symmetry breaking boundary conditions at the monopole core and, consequently, these bound states do not necessarily have definite quantum numbers under accidental IR symmetries. Additionally, they have binding energies that are$$ \mathcal{O}(1) $$ O1 times the fermion mass and bound state radii of order their inverse mass. As the massless limit is approached, the bound state radii approach infinity, and they become new asymptotic states with odd quantum numbers giving a dynamical understanding to the origin of semitons.  more » « less

Abstract A minimal non-thermal dark matter model that can explain both the existence of dark matter and the baryon asymmetry in the universe is studied. It requires two color-triplet, iso-singlet scalars with$$ \mathcal{O}\left(\textrm{TeV}\right) $$ OTeV masses and a singlet Majorana fermion with a mass of$$ \mathcal{O}\left(\textrm{GeV}\right) $$ OGeV . The fermion becomes stable and can play the role of the dark matter candidate. We consider the fermion to interact with a top quark via the exchange of QCD-charged scalar fields coupled dominantly to third generation fermions. The signature of a single top quark production associated with a bottom quark and large missing transverse momentum opens up the possibility to search for this type of model at the LHC in a way complementary to existing monotop searches.

  2. Abstract We study the “three particle coupling”$$ {\Gamma}_{11}^1\left(\xi \right) $$ Γ111ξ , in 2dIsing Field Theory in a magnetic field, as the function of the scaling parameterξ:=h/(−m)15/8, wherem∼Tc−Tandh∼Hare scaled deviation from the critical temperature and scaled external field, respectively. The “φ3coupling”$$ {\Gamma}_{11}^1 $$ Γ111 is defined in terms of the residue of the 2 → 2 elastic scattering amplitude at its pole associated with the lightest particle itself. We limit attention to the High-Temperature domain, so thatmis negative. We suggest “standard analyticity”:$$ {\left({\Gamma}_{11}^1\right)}^2 $$ Γ111 2 , as the function ofu:=ξ2, is analytic in the whole complexu-plane except for the branch cut from – ∞ to –u0≈ – 0.03585, the latter branching point –u0being associated with the Yang-Lee edge singularity. Under this assumption, the values of$$ {\Gamma}_{11}^1 $$ Γ111 at any complexuare expressed through the discontinuity across the branch cut. We suggest approximation for this discontinuity which accounts for singular expansion of$$ {\Gamma}_{11}^1 $$ Γ111 near the Yang-Lee branching point, as well as its known asymptotic atu →+∞. The resulting dispersion relation agrees well with known exact data, and with numerics obtained via Truncated Free Fermion Space Approach. This work is part of extended project of studying the S-matrix of the Ising Field Theory in a magnetic field.

  3. Abstract The entanglement negativity$$ \mathcal{E} $$ E (A:B) is a useful measure of quantum entanglement in bipartite mixed states. In random tensor networks (RTNs), which are related to fixed-area states, it was found in ref. [1] that the dominant saddles computing the even Rényi negativity$$ {\mathcal{E}}^{(2k)} $$ E 2k generically break theℤ2kreplica symmetry. This calls into question previous calculations of holographic negativity using 2D CFT techniques that assumedℤ2kreplica symmetry and proposed that the negativity was related to the entanglement wedge cross section. In this paper, we resolve this issue by showing that in general holographic states, the saddles computing$$ {\mathcal{E}}^{(2k)} $$ E 2k indeed break theℤ2kreplica symmetry. Our argument involves an identity relating$$ {\mathcal{E}}^{(2k)} $$ E 2k to thek-th Rényi entropy on subregionAB∗in the doubled state$$ {\left.|{\rho}_{AB}\right\rangle}_{A{A}^{\ast }{BB}^{\ast }} $$ ρAB AA∗BB∗ , from which we see that theℤ2kreplica symmetry is broken down toℤk. Fork< 1, which includes the case of$$ \mathcal{E} $$ E (A:B) atk= 1/2, we use a modified cosmic brane proposal to derive a new holographic prescription for$$ {\mathcal{E}}^{(2k)} $$ E 2k and show that it is given by a new saddle with multiple cosmic branes anchored to subregionsAandBin the original state. Using our prescription, we reproduce known results for the PSSY model and show that our saddle dominates over previously proposed CFT calculations neark= 1. Moreover, we argue that theℤ2ksymmetric configurations previously proposed are not gravitational saddles, unlike our proposal. Finally, we contrast holographic calculations with those arising from RTNs with non-maximally entangled links, demonstrating that the qualitative form of backreaction in such RTNs is different from that in gravity.

  4. Abstract We develop Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) predictions ofσ($$ \mathcal{GG} $$ GG →h), Γ(h→$$ \mathcal{GG} $$ GG ), Γ(h→$$ \mathcal{AA} $$ AA ) to incorporate full two loop Standard Model results at the amplitude level, in conjunction with dimension eight SMEFT corrections. We simultaneously report consistent Γ(h→$$ \overline{\Psi}\Psi $$ Ψ¯Ψ ) results including leading QCD corrections and dimension eight SMEFT corrections. This extends the predictions of the former processes Γ, σto a full set of corrections at$$ \mathcal{O}\left({\overline{v}}_T^2/{\varLambda}^2{\left(16{\pi}^2\right)}^2\right) $$ O v¯T2 /Λ2 16π2 2 and$$ \mathcal{O}\left({\overline{v}}_T^4/{\Lambda}^4\right) $$ O v¯T4 /Λ4 , where$$ {\overline{v}}_T $$ v¯T is the electroweak scale vacuum expectation value and Λ is the cut off scale of the SMEFT. Throughout, cross consistency between the operator and loop expansions is maintained by the use of the geometric SMEFT formalism. For Γ(h→$$ \overline{\Psi}\Psi $$ Ψ¯Ψ ), we include results at$$ \mathcal{O}\left({\overline{v}}_T^2/{\Lambda}^2\left(16{\pi}^2\right)\right) $$ O v¯T2 /Λ2 16π2 in the limit where subleadingmΨ→ 0 corrections are neglected. We clarify how gauge invariant SMEFT renormalization counterterms combine with the Standard Model counter terms in higher order SMEFT calculations when the Background Field Method is used. We also update the prediction of the total Higgs width in the SMEFT to consistently include some of these higher order perturbative effects.

  5. Abstract A time-dependent, flavour-tagged measurement ofCPviolation is performed withB0→ D+D−and$$ {B}_s^0 $$ Bs0 →$$ {D}_s^{+}{D}_s^{-} $$ Ds+Ds− decays, using data collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb−1. InB0→ D+D−decays theCP-violation parameters are measured to be$$ {\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}{S}_{D^{+}{D}^{-}}=-0.552\pm 0.100\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.010\left(\textrm{syst}\right),\\ {}{C}_{D^{+}{D}^{-}}=0.128\pm 0.103\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.010\left(\textrm{syst}\right).\end{array}} $$ SD+D− =−0.552±0.100stat±0.010syst, CD+D− =0.128±0.103stat±0.010syst. In$$ {B}_s^0 $$ Bs0 →$$ {D}_s^{+}{D}_s^{-} $$ Ds+Ds− decays theCP-violating parameter formulation in terms ofϕsand|λ|results in$$ {\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}{\phi}_s=-0.086\pm 0.106\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.028\left(\textrm{syst}\right)\textrm{rad},\\ {}\mid {\lambda}_{D_s^{+}{D}_s^{-}}\mid =1.145\pm 0.126\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.031\left(\textrm{syst}\right).\end{array}} $$ ϕs=−0.086±0.106stat±0.028systrad, ∣ λ Ds+Ds− ∣=1.145±0.126stat±0.031syst. These results represent the most precise single measurement of theCP-violation parameters in their respective channels. For the first time in a single measurement,CPsymmetry is observed to be violated inB0→ D+D−decays with a significance exceeding six standard deviations.
