Title: Hidden-strangeness tetraquarks in the dynamical diquark model
The dynamical diquark model describes multiquark exotic hadrons in terms of diquark components nucleated by heavy quarks and successfully explains multiple features of hidden-charm and hidden-bottom exotics. Here, we apply the model to the marginally heavy case of hidden-strange states to probe whether mesons near 2 GeV with peculiar properties, such as ϕ ( 2170 ) , f 2 ( 2340 ) , and X ( 2370 ) , are possible tetraquark candidates. We calculate spin-multiplet average masses using potentials obtained through lattice simulations and quark models, and we also describe the detailed spectra of the expected multiplets as a diagnostic to discern the nature of future hadrons likely to be discovered in this mass region by experiments at facilities such as BESIII, JLab, and the EIC.  more » « less

  1. In the bottomonium sector, the hindered magnetic dipole transitions between P-wave states h b ( 2 P ) χ b J ( 1 P ) γ , J = 0 , 1, 2, are expected to be severely suppressed according to the relativized quark model, due to the spin flip of the b quark. Nevertheless, a recent model following the coupled-channel approach predicts the corresponding branching fractions to be enhanced by orders of magnitude. In this Letter, we report the first search for such transitions. We find no significant signals and set upper limits at 90% confidence level on the corresponding branching fractions: B [ h b ( 2 P ) γ χ b 0 ( 1 P ) ] < 2.7 × 10 1 , B [ h b ( 2 P ) γ χ b 1 ( 1 P ) ] < 5.4 × 10 3 and B [ h b ( 2 P ) γ χ b 2 ( 1 P ) ] < 1.3 × 10 2 . These values help to constrain the parameters of the coupled-channel models. The results are obtained using a 121.4 fb 1 data sample taken around s = 10.860 GeV with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e collider. 2. We explore leptogenesis during a cosmological epoch during which the electroweak SU ( 2 ) L force is confined. During weak confinement, there is only one conserved nonanomalous global charge, r , which is a linear combination of lepton-number, baryon-number, and hypercharge. The inclusion of heavy Majorana neutrinos leads to an r -charge and C P -violating interaction with a composite scalar, Φ , and composite fermions, Ψ , allowing for the generation of an r -charge asymmetry, which translates into a baryon asymmetry post SU ( 2 ) L deconfinement. Determining the resulting baryon asymmetry as a function of the model parameters, we find that the predicted baryon-asymmetry can match observations for a wide swath of parameter space: a weak confinement scale Λ W 10 11 10 14 GeV , the sum of the Standard Model Yukawa couplings Y i α Y i α * 10 2 10 0 , m Φ / m Ψ 0 0.5 , and a Φ Ψ Ψ coupling | g | 1 with complex phase θ g π / 4 . While leptogenesis under the assumption of a standard cosmology relies on the complex phase of the neutrino Yukawa couplings, the asymmetry generated in this novel background cosmology primarily depends on a strong phase from SU ( 2 ) L confinement, θ g , and favors negligible C P -violation in the right-handed neutrino decays.

  3. The production yields of the orbitally excited charm-strange mesons D s 1 ( 1 + ) ( 2536 ) + and D s 2 * ( 2 + ) ( 2573 ) + were measured for the first time in proton-proton (pp) collisions at a center-of-mass energy of s = 13 TeV with the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The D s 1 + and D s 2 * + mesons were measured at midrapidity ( | y | < 0.5 ) in minimum-bias and high-multiplicity pp collisions in the transverse-momentum interval 2 < p T < 24 GeV / c . Their production yields relative to the D s + ground-state yield were found to be compatible between minimum-bias and high-multiplicity collisions, as well as with previous measurements in e ± p and e + e collisions. The measured D s 1 + / D s + and D s 2 * + / D s + yield ratios are described by statistical hadronization models and can be used to tune the parameters governing the production of excited charm-strange hadrons in Monte Carlo generators, such as 8.

  4. The production of the ψ ( 2 S ) charmonium state was measured with ALICE in Pb-Pb collisions at s NN = 5.02 TeV , in the dimuon decay channel. A significant signal was observed for the first time at LHC energies down to zero transverse momentum, at forward rapidity ( 2.5 < y < 4 ). The measurement of the ratio of the inclusive production cross sections of the ψ ( 2 S ) and J / ψ resonances is reported as a function of the centrality of the collisions and of transverse momentum, in the region p T < 12 GeV / c . The results are compared with the corresponding measurements in p p collisions, by forming the double ratio [ σ ψ ( 2 S ) / σ J / ψ ] Pb Pb / [ σ ψ ( 2 S ) / σ J / ψ ] p p . It is found that in Pb-Pb collisions the ψ ( 2 S ) is suppressed by a factor of 2 with respect to the J / ψ . The ψ ( 2 S ) nuclear modification factor R AA was also obtained as a function of both centrality and p T . The results show that the ψ ( 2 S ) resonance yield is strongly suppressed in Pb-Pb collisions, by a factor of up to 3 with respect to p p . Comparisons of cross section ratios with previous Super Proton Synchrotron findings by the NA50 experiment and of R AA with higher- p T results at LHC energy are also reported. These results and the corresponding comparisons with calculations of transport and statistical models address questions on the presence and properties of charmonium states in the quark-gluon plasma formed in nuclear collisions at the LHC. © 2024 CERN, for the ALICE Collaboration2024CERN

  5. Recently, B P P decays ( B = { B 0 , B + , B s 0 } , P = { π , K } ) were analyzed under the assumption of flavor SU(3) symmetry ( SU ( 3 ) F ). Although the individual fits to Δ S = 0 or Δ S = 1 decays are good, it was found that the combined fit is very poor: there is a 3.6 σ disagreement with the SU ( 3 ) F limit of the standard model ( SM SU ( 3 ) F ). One can remove this discrepancy by adding SU ( 3 ) F -breaking effects, but 1000% SU ( 3 ) F breaking is required. In this paper, we extend this analysis to include decays in which there is an η and/or η meson in the final state. We now find that the combined fit exhibits a 4.1 σ discrepancy with the SM SU ( 3 ) F , and 1000% SU ( 3 ) F -breaking effects are still required to explain the data. These results are rigorous, group-theoretically—no theoretical assumptions have been made. But when one adds some theoretical input motivated by QCD factorization, the discrepancy with the SM SU ( 3 ) F grows to 4.9 σ
