Title: Fine tuning the morphology of peptide amphiphile nanostructures via co-assembly
The composition of a mixture of co-assembled peptide amphiphiles is a simple yet powerful parameter to exert control over the size and morphology of their self-assembled nanoconstructs  more » « less

  1. Sarcoramphus papa is a New World Vulture found predominantly in tropical lowland forests stretching from southern Mexico to northern Argentina. We present the whole genome sequence of this species. Illumina paired-end reads were assembled by a de novo method followed by a finishing step. The raw and assembled data are publicly available via GenBank: Sequence Read Archive (SRR19167646) and assembled genome (GCA_027580115).

ABSTRACT The complete genome ofPlanococcus koreensiswas obtained using Nanopore MinION sequencing after isolation from soil in Colorado. The assembled genome contains one circular contig with 3,519,105 bp, 3,606 genes, 419 pseudogenes, and 47.62% guanine-cytosine content. This discovery provides a fully assembledP. koreensisgenome available at the National Center for Biotechnology Information.

ABSTRACT Here, we report the genome sequence and characterization for a Blattabacterium strain isolated from the viviparous cockroach, Diploptera punctata , which provides amino acids critical for intrauterine embryo development. The genome was assembled by sequencing of the cockroach fat body, which is the location of this obligate symbiont.

  4. Abstract The spiral gingers (Costus L.) are a pantropical genus of herbaceous perennial monocots; the Neotropical clade of Costus radiated rapidly in the past few million years into over 60 species. The Neotropical spiral gingers have a rich history of evolutionary and ecological research that can motivate and inform modern genetic investigations. Here, we present the first 2 chromosome-level genome assemblies in the genus, for C. pulverulentus and C. lasius, and briefly compare their synteny. We assembled the C. pulverulentus genome from a combination of short-read data, Chicago and Dovetail Hi-C chromatin-proximity sequencing, and alignment with a linkage map. We annotated the genome by mapping a C. pulverulentus transcriptome and querying mapped transcripts against a protein database. We assembled the C. lasius genome with Pacific Biosciences HiFi long reads and alignment to the C. pulverulentus genome. These 2 assemblies are the first published genomes for non-cultivated tropical plants. These genomes solidify the spiral gingers as a model system and will facilitate research on the poorly understood genetic basis of tropical plant diversification.

ABSTRACT Here, we report the draft genome sequences ofFlagellimonassp. MMG031 andMarinobactersp. MMG032, isolated from coral-associated dinoflagellateSymbiodinium pilosum, assembled and analyzed by undergraduate students participating in a Marine Microbial Genomics (MMG) course. A genomic comparison suggests MMG031 and MMG032 are novel species and a resource for restoration and biotechnology.
