  1. Using a data sample of 427.9  fb−1 collected by the Belle II detector at or near the ϒ(4S) and ϒ(10753) resonances, the cross sections for e+e−→h+h−J/ψ(h=π/K/p) at center-of-mass energies ranging from 3.8 GeV or the production threshold to 5.5/6.0/7.0  GeV have been measured via initial-state radiation. The cross sections for the processes e+e−→π+π−J/ψ and e+e−→K+K−J/ψ are consistent with previously published results. The cross sections for these channels obtained by combining with previous Belle results are also given. The process e+e−→pp¯J/ψ is investigated for the first time. The yields are small and no significant structure is observed in the cross section versus energy. Searches for vector charmoniumlike states in the h+h−J/ψ systems, and for associated intermediate states in the h±J/ψ systems, are also presented.

  2. We report a measurement of the branching fraction for the leptonic decay B+→μ+νμ . This work presents the first B+→μ+νμ result using Belle II data, an updated Belle measurement that supersedes the previous result, and their combination, which yields the most precise search to date. The analysis is based on 1076  fb−1 of e+e− collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV with the Belle and Belle II detectors at the KEKB and SuperKEKB colliders, respectively. We measure B(B+→μ+νμ)=(4.4±1.9±1.0)×10−7 , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The observed significance relative to the background-only hypothesis is 2.4 standard deviations. We set a 90% confidence level upper limit of B(B+→μ+νμ)<6.7×10−7 using a frequentist approach and a 90% credibility level upper limit of B(B+→μ+νμ)<7.2×10−7 using a Bayesian approach. These are the most stringent limits to date. The result is interpreted as an exclusion region in the parameter space of type II and type III two-Higgs-doublet models. We search for stable sterile neutrinos with masses mN∈[0,1.5]  GeV . No signal is observed, and the resulting exclusion on the squared mixing parameter | UμN |2 provides improvement over previous limits. We report a measurement of the partial branching fraction of semileptonic B→Xuℓνℓ decays with pμB>2.2  GeV , obtaining ΔB(B→Xuℓνℓ)=(2.72±0.05±0.29)×10−4 . We present a model-dependent study of weak annihilation decays using the muon momentum spectrum. We observe a signal of 2.4 standard deviations above the background-only hypothesis in regions where the distribution resembles that of B→Xuℓνℓ decays.

  3. We search for excited charmed baryons in the Λc+η system using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980  fb−1 . The data were collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e− asymmetric-energy collider. No significant signals are found in the Λc+η mass spectrum, including the known Λc(2880)+ and Λc(2940)+ . Clear Λc(2880)+ and Λc(2940)+ signals are observed in the pD0 mass spectrum. We set upper limits at 90% credibility level on ratios of branching fractions of Λc(2880)+ and Λc(2940)+ decaying to Λc+η relative to Σc(2455)π of <0.13 for the Λc(2880)+ and <1.11 for the Λc(2940)+ . We measure ratios of branching fractions of Λc(2880)+ and Λc(2940)+ decaying to pD0 relative to Σc(2455)π of 0.75±0.03(stat)±0.07(syst) for the Λc(2880)+ and 3.59±0.21(stat)±0.56(syst) for the Λc(2940)+ . 4. We report the results of the first search for Standard Model and baryon-number-violating two-body decays of the neutral B mesons to Λ0 and Ωc(*)0 using 711  fb−1 of data collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e− collider. We observe no evidence of signal from any such decays and set 95% confidence-level upper limits on the products of B0 and B¯ 0 branching fractions for these two-body decays with B( Ωc0 →π+Ω−) in the range between 9.5×10−8 and 31.2×10−8 . 5. We measure the complete set of angular coefficients Ji for exclusive B¯ →D*ℓ ν¯ ℓ decays ( ℓ=e , μ ). Our analysis uses the full 711  fb−1 Belle dataset with hadronic tag-side reconstruction. The results allow us to extract the form factors describing the B¯→D* transition and the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element | Vcb | . Using recent lattice QCD calculations for the hadronic form factors, we find | Vcb |=(40.7±0.7)×10−3 using the Boyd-Grinstein-Lebed parametrization, compatible with determinations from inclusive semileptonic decays. We search for lepton flavor universality violation as a function of the hadronic recoil parameter w and investigate the differences of the electron and muon angular distributions. We find no deviation from standard model expectations. Published by the American Physical Society2024

  6. We report a search for a heavy neutral lepton (HNL) that mixes predominantly with ντ . The search utilizes data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e+e− collider. The data sample was collected at and just below the center-of-mass energies of the ϒ(4S) and ϒ(5S) resonances and has an integrated luminosity of 915  fb−1 , corresponding to (836±12)×106 e+e−→τ+τ− events. We search for production of the HNL (denoted N ) in the decay τ−→π−N followed by its decay via N→μ+μ−ντ . The search focuses on the parameter-space region in which the HNL is long-lived, so that the μ+μ− originate from a common vertex that is significantly displaced from the collision point of the KEKB beams. Consistent with the expected background yield, one event is observed in the data sample after application of all the event-selection criteria. We report limits on the mixing parameter of the HNL with the τ neutrino as a function of the HNL mass. Published by the American Physical Society2024
