  1. Crystals of the title salt, (C8H20N)[Sn(C6H5)3(C2H2O2S)], comprise diisobutylammonium cations and mercaptoacetatotriphenylstannate(IV) anions. The bidentate binding mode of the mercaptoacetate ligand gives rise to a five-coordinated, ionic triphenyltin complex with a distortedcis-trigonal–bipyramidal geometry around the tin atom. In the crystal, charge-assisted ammonium-N—H...O(carboxylate) hydrogen-bonding connects two cations and two anions into a four-ion aggregate. Two positions were resolved for one of the phenyl rings with the major component having a site occupancy factor of 0.60 (3).

  2. The title compound, C 18 H 17 N 3 O 3 S·C 2 H 6 OS, crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P 2 1 /c . In the crystal, C 1 1 (9) chains of C—H...O interactions are formed, propogating in the c -axis direction. The N—H hydrogen atom forms a strong hydrogen bond with the oxygen atom of a DMSO solvate molecule.

  3. The structure of the title compound, [CdCl2(C15H16N4S)], at 100 K has monoclinic (P21/c) symmetry. The compound has a layer structure and is a 1:1 complex of the organic ligand and cadmium chloride. The ligand, 3,3-dimethyl-1-[(E)-[phenyl(pyridine-2-yl)methylidene]amino]thiourea (L, Bp44mT), is of interest with respect to anticancer activity, antiviral properties and potential use in conditions of iron overload, from hemochromatosis or from multiple transfusions in hematological disorders such as sickle cell disease or beta thalassemia. This study is aimed at uncovering the basis of selectivity of the ligand as a chelator and for lead optimization. We also examine the ligand's potential use in treating heavy metal poisoning from cadmium, arsenic, lead or mercury, and for environmental remediation. The crystal structure exhibits no intermolecular or intramolecular hydrogen bonding with the supramolecular features being driven by hydrophobic, π–π and long-range dispersion forces.

  4. Abstract Synthesizing solids in molten fluxes enables the rapid diffusion of soluble species at temperatures lower than in solid‐state reactions, leading to crystal formation of kinetically stable compounds. In this study, we demonstrate the effectiveness of mixed hydroxide and halide fluxes in synthesizing complex Sr/Ag/Se in mixed LiOH/LiCl. We have accessed a series of two‐dimensional Sr(Ag1−xLix)2Se2layered phases. With increased LiOH/LiCl ratio or reaction temperature, Li partially substituted Ag to form solid solutions of Sr(Ag1−xLix)2Se2withxup to 0.45. In addition, a new type of intergrowth compound [Sr3Se2][(Ag1−xLix)2Se2] was synthesized upon further reaction of Sr(Ag1−xLix)2Se2with SrSe. Both Sr(Ag1−xLix)2Se2and [Sr3Se2][(Ag1−xLix)2Se2] exhibit a direct band gap, which increases with increasing Li substitution (x). Therefore, the band gap of Sr(Ag1−xLix)2Se2can be precisely tuned via fine‐tuningxthat is controlled by only the flux ratio and temperature.
